    3. Gwen & Eleanor, This is rather a long e-mail, but I've been researching the Renshaw family for over 20 years and have it (them) extremely confusing & frustrating. I've not had much research time in the past several years (taking over directorship of a library, moving into a new house, etc.), but I do tend to "lurk" on the listserv and tinker with the research periodically. Evelyn & I have corresponded several times over the past two years. When she first got started I sent her a GEDCOM file with all my research on the James & Araminta Renshaw file. I believe we are related through them. Unfortunately, I've never found any mention of them having a son Thomas F, even thought the circumstantial evidence points in that direction. For instance, Thomas and his children are not mentioned in James' will, but then neither is James Jr. and his children. Thomas F. was married to Mary McKean and some of James Sr's property adjoined that of Mary's father John. See what I mean about frustrating. If any can provide me with a definitive link it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime-- Eleanor-- I've searched numerous Iowa records for the Renshaws. The only mention of Harry Renshaw is in a letter on land records, I received from the Clerk in Clayton County. The information reads: Harry Renshaw to Dietrich Stahl, Book J, Page 271 Conveys: NW SE 22-93-3 Dated Dec. 20, 1852 & filed July 14, 1854. There was no record of purchase in the information she sent. On reviewing the rest of the extract from the indexes I found the following. Thomas F. was buying and selling land in the area from 1854-1857; David L. (george's son) had a deed in 1854 (?); James (I think George's son), in 1856. Your George had two entries, both in 1856. Gwen-- According to my records, the 1880 Fayette County, PA census for German Township shows: James Renshaw, Jr., born ca. 1839 (son of James & Araminta Renshaw) was married to a Catherine, born ca. 1839 (no maiden name given). They had three children: George E., Mary H., and Carrie S. Except for the middle initials in the daughter's names, this matches the information in the Galley will. I agree that you've probably found a match. Good Luck hunting and hope this input helps a bit. Victoria L.
