    1. [RENSHAW-L] James Renshaw in Washington Co., PA
    2. The above James appears on the census records for 1850 as follows: 1850 Union Twp., Washington Co., PA James Renshaw, age 34, Labourer b. PA Margaret Renshaw, age 29, b. VA John A. Renshaw, age 3, b. PA Alfred Renshaw, age 1, b. PA 1860 Union Twp., Washington Co., PA James Ranshaw, age 42, Miner, b. PA Margaret Ranshaw, age 40, b. VA John Ranshaw, age 14, b. PA Samuel Ranshaw, age 10, b. PA William Ranshaw, age 7, b. PA 1870 Ormsby Borough, Allegheny Co., PA James Ranshaw, age 52, Labourer, b. PA Margaret Ranshaw, age 51, Keeping H[ouse], b. VA James Ranshaw, age 18, Working in __M [possibly coal mine], b. PA I think James and Margaret are the same people on the above three entries. James' age varies a bit, but their birthplaces remain constant. The children either died or used different names as they went along. I have been looking for James Renshaw Jr., son of James Renshaw Sr. of Fayette Co., PA. James Jr. was born after 1814 and I have no record of him after that point. James Sr. died in 1866 and did not mention James Jr. in his will, so James Jr. may have died by that time. It is possible, however, that there had been an estrangement between father and son and that the son was still living but not mentioned in his father's will. Does anyone have information on this James Renshaw in Washington Co., PA (not the one in Washington Co., VA!) who probably moved to Allegheny County? Is he my missing James Jr.? Eleanor Gordon
