I think the subject of the following obituary was a descendant of Thomas Renshaw, son (we think) of James Renshaw of Fayette Co., PA >From The Sioux City Journal -- Almanac: Obituaries Friday June 9, 2000 Helen Renshaw Edwards Cone STORM LAKE, Iowa-Helen Renshaw Edwards Cone, 98, died June 7, 2000, at the Buena Vista County Hospital following a brief illness. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Bell officiating. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the Fratzke Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Cone was born Nov. 8, 1901, in Hayes Township, south of Storm Lake, the daughter of Thomas M. and Margaret (Moore) Renshaw. Her family moved north of town to Scott Township for one year and then moved to a farm near Rushmore, Minn. Eight years later they returned to Storm Lake and farmed southwest of town. She attended Hayes School No. 2 through the eighth grade and in 1919 graduated with the first graduating class of Hayes Consolidated School. She attended Buena Vista College for two years and taught in the Rembrandt Consolidated School from September of 1921 to June of 1923. She married Russell M. Edwards on Dec. 23, 1922. The couple resided in Storm Lake where she owned and operated Edward's Greenhouse for several years. Mr. Edwards died May 16, 1950. She married Harry Cone of Storm Lake on Feb. 2, 1954. Mr. Cone died Feb. 22, 1976. She worked as a receptionist at Buntrock-Salie Studio and later as a teacher at Brooke Consolidated School. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She belonged to United Methodist Women, F&H and the Sorosis Clubs, and the Hayes Farmers Club. She was also active in the Pilgrim Missionary Society and the Hayes Homemakers. Survivors include a son, Kenneth R. "Dick" Edwards and his wife Celesta of Storm Lake; four grandchildren, Carol Lee, Bruce Edwards, Janet Johnson and Joan Downey; 14 great- grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Florence Edwards. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church Building Fund. (posted by Eleanor Gordon)
