More for Ted: A man named Henry Renshaw appears on the 1900 census for Kent County, Michigan. His birth month and year appear almost as shown on your email -- the census has him born in England in September of 1841. His wife's name is Mary on the census and they have been married one year. She has had six children, so she was a widow when she married Henry. The only difficulty with this entry is that it shows Henry entering the U.S. in 1861. Possibly this should have been 1881? He was naturalized according to the entry. Turning to Samuel Renshaw, there are eleven men with this name on the 1900 census index. One of them, age 68, lived in Louisiana and was born in England. Another Samuel Renshaw lived in Ohio and was born in England in June of 1870. This man, married with a family, would seem to be a candidate for Ted's family except that he stated that he came to this country in 1892. Interestingly, in light of the Michigan marriage of Miriam Renshaw, this Samuel's younger children were born in Michigan. I think this is a definite possibility for Ted to explore. I wonder if the family did some "to and fro-ing", which was not so unusual as we might think. Of course, the above Samuel may be an unrelated man entirely. Eleanor
