    1. [Renshaw] Rinshaw
    2. Gwen mentioned Rinshaw as an alternative spelling to Renshaw a couple of weeks ago. While all present-day Rinshaws may not be Renshaws, I think Gwen made a good point: in older records many of the "Rinshaws" were really Renshaws. Ancestry.com has several Rinshaw entries, including a James Rinshaw in 1857 in Phoenixville. I am quite sure he was a Renshaw. I also found the following at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mo/topic/afro-amer/1860slavecoopera1.html 1860 Slave Census for Cooper Co., MO: Slave Owner: E.T. RInshaw: 2 slaves Slave Owner: E.T. Rinshaw & 3 others: 2 slaves Was E.T. a Renshaw? The website http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/_glc_/3413/3413_175.html?Welcome=10156465 49 has a Name Index to the Baltimore City Tax Records which includes Rinshaw, James 1799-1800, p. 268 Has anyone claimed him? I am always looking for early records of my James Renshaw, who was born in MD in the 1770's and married in PA in 1802. Would he have owned property by 1799? A good search engine will turn up a few more Rinshaw genealogical references. I use terms like Rinshaw married or Rinshaw born when I want to search for a surname with genealogical implications.
