I have a copy of an SAR( Sons' of The American Revolution) for Robert Henry Renshaw III , b. April 14, 1916 in Baltimore, MD. He lists two children Eliza Hoke Renshaw b. May 26, 1947 in Martinsburg, WV and Walter Lee Hoke Renshaw b. NOV 1, 1952 in Martinsburg, WV. His parents were Robert Henry Renshaw Jr and Henrietta Buchanan Alberti, grandparents were Robert Henry Renshaw and Anne Carter Wickham. I will be happy to send a copy of this document to anyone who has an interest. I also can prove his lineage back to William Renshaw, b. May 1, 1771 in London, who immigrated to Philadelphia August 1804 with his first wife Martha Hutchinson. Gwen Renshaw Maurer
Eleanor, I took your variation (Reushaw) of Renshaw and checked it out on a few Census Indexes on CD-ROMs 1840-1870. Great tip everyone! In old script it is easy to take that "n" for a " u" ! Sure enough several pop up.What was interesting is that for years, I have wondered why my only two of my own Renshaw's for Chester county show up on the 1850 census index. Under the Reushaw variation they all turned up. I also looked at the Luzerne county indexes 1840-1870 since as you knew, I have been recently looking into that line of Renshaw's. Atlantick Reushaw is the son of William Renshaw of Philadelphia, I was looking for. Taking it one step farther I tried the variation " Rinshaw and turned up Elias Rinshaw of Hazelton, Luzerne County in 1850. I know for a fact by deed records that Atlantic W. , Atlantic M , Theodore, and William Renshaw all lived in Luzerne county during the years 1840-at least 1860 but do not show up under any variation of Renshaw. on the census indexes. Gwen Renshaw Maurer
On the website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~pairplace2/ilcensusrecord.htm is an extracted census entry which reads 1910 Chicago, Cook Co. 107 1497 0010 Parr, Auard - white, age 43, born England ", Ada - daughter, 20, ILL ", Annie - daughter, 15, ILL ", Alfred - son, 12, ILL ", Edna - daughter, 9, ILL ", Edward - son, 6, ILL ", William - son, 3, ILL Revshaw, Henry - father-in-law, 60 England ", Hannah - mother-in-law, 61, England I imagine the actual surname of Henry and Hannah was Renshaw? Eleanor
This is from Ancestry.com. I do not know if this is a Renshaw record, but it may very well be: Civil War Pension Index Francis Rewshaw State Filed: Michigan Widow: Hester Bullis There is an image online which can be accessed by subscription which gives information about the unit in which Francis served. Eleanor
A correspondent recently mentioned he had found Renshaw records indexed as "Reushaw". I do not know if there is really such a name, but an indexer might very well misread Renshaw as Reushaw. Eleanor Gordon

Hi All found this reference to Elijah Renshaw while searching for Renshaw's in Chester Co., PA. Gwen On 22 July 1795 Jacob Keller let John Willcockson (Wilcoxon), both of Rowan County, North Carolina, have 164 acres on both sides of Bear (Bare) Creek. next to the old survey of said Keller, for 100 pounds. The deed was witnessed by Elijah Renshaw and William Butler and proved by the latter in August 1795. Dear listowner, would you be so kind as to forward this to your list for me please as a favour to a friend of mine, I would be very, very grateful. Hi All, A friend has asked me to help her but information is scant I'm afraid, I would appreciate any help on this though if you can, maybe trade directories would help. Samuel RENSHAW died 1931/2 in Liverpool, he was run over by a cart wheel so she thinks. He owned a coal yard and married Margaret Louisa BROMSGROVE (or Louisa Margaret) and she died 1979 Liverpool. Samuel was the son of one of 2 brothers John or Edward Renshaw who were in the ropery business. My friend seems to think they might be linked to Renshaw Street, Liverpool but after some searching I found Renshaw Street Chapel was opened in 1811, so the street must have been around a long time, or does anyone know better. I would be grateful for any help on this, Many thanks, Sue. Sue Rylands pub20009@blueyonder.co.uk

Trying to trace the Renshaw connection to my Wallace family as the name was carried through 3 generations and had to be significant. My biological patrilineage is Wallace from Church Hill Maryland, but I live in remote Perth West Australia and not only are US records very hard to access from here, but I was only given the first clue to who my biological father was when I was 60 years old. I finally found that he was Lt General William Jennings Wallace USMC, DSM, but he died in 1977and at 67 I am still trying to trace my family and discover who I really am. Renshaw connection is through my father's brother Frederick, who moved to PA. His mother was (presumably) Lydia Potts, whom I am told was a Cavendish originally, so I don't know where Renshaw came from - unless his father had a Renshaw connection through his parents, but the name appears to have been given to the first born son in each generation. Information I have is:- William Dudley Wallace b1875 d? m (1) Lydia Potts b? d1899 ----------------------------------------l------------------------------------------------- Frederick Renshaw Wallace 1893-1965 m Josephine Small ------------------------------------------l-------------------------------------------- Frederick Renshaw Wallace Jnr b1928 m 1947 Elizabeth Pearson l-------------------------------------------------------------l-----------------------------------------------------------------------------l Virginia Swift Wallace b1948 Barbara Pearson Wallace b1950 David Renshaw Wallace b1951 m Elaine ? I looked "Halbert's" up online and found a few negative comments about the firm -- that they publish information without real data to back it up.
