The following URL http://www.ingeneas.com/ingeneas/index.html leads you to several Renshaw entries. Click on the numer beside each entry to see where the information can be found. If you want InGeneas to send you a copy of the data, there is a small fee. Enough information is given, however, that many family researchers will be able to obtain the information on their own if they want to. Eleanor
I recently realized that I hadn't looked at any records for Renshawe, spelled with a final "e". Here is an interesting entry from Ancestry.com: Documents Relating to the Colonial History of the State of New Jersey Marriage Licenses. The Marriage Ceremony Females. S Divorces By the Court of Chancery. page 382 Stacy, Mary, Burlington, and John Renshawe, Burlington 1686 April 17 Eleanor

Hi everyone, This was sent to another list. Checked it out lots of Renshaw's. It is through a rootsweb site. http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ky/death/search.cgi <A HREF="http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ky/death/search.cgi">click</A>
Hello Carol, There is a fragmented thought in one of these sentences in the first paragraph. I will type this as it is written, plus the second paragraph: II JOHN AND NANCY REED RENSHAW "This family has no record of their North Carolina forebears. Reed RENSHAW, the eldest son, left a record in which he said that his parents were married in Rowan County but the names of their parents. Was Nancy of the family of Capt. REED in whose District Thomas RENSHAW lived?" "John RENSHAW paid taxes in Christain County, KY in 1810. Relatives of his wife, Nancy, were eager for them to move on wiht them to Madison County, MO. John made a trip there and planned to take his family in 1822 but he died before he reached his home in Kentucky. Nancy took her family to Missouri as they had planned and the eldest daughter Matilda, married there and remained but Nancy and the other children returned to Kentucky where she and her sons engaged in farming in Hamby District, Christain County. Nancy died in 1824 leaving a family that would be a credit to that community for several genrations." There are 5 pages on this family. If you wish to give me your snail mail address, I can mail them to you. There is information on Frances B. and Nancy E. RENSHAW and other family of yours in this section. Eleanor and List members, CAN YOU HEAR ME SCREAMING?? I don't know who ripped off who! But if you own FTM CD volume 3, look at pedigree 4091. Every piece of data in this so called new database was taken from my family tree 4091 and the info on George W. Renshaw's wife as Sarah Holman is wrong! George was married to Sarah/Susan Essick which I proved two years later. I believe I submitted this to FTM on a floppy disk about 1994. On 3/15/1995 I submitted a floppy disk to IGI with most of the same incorrect info. Neither has ever been corrected. The IGI was a hassle as I would have had to use PAF, which I was no longer using. Borderbund never provided the means to correct material submitted. I frankly don't care if these commercial outfits rip one another off. But I do very much care that us, amateur genealogists are being ripped off. We put a lot of hard work, money and time into researching our ancestors. I will also bet that much of the material in this so called data base, has been provided by members of our list. Not only RENSHAW"S but other surnames as well! What can we do about it. I don't know but I am going to post my findings to the Surname Lists I belong to. I for one can prove what I claim about this database. I still have a copy of the original Temple ready disk submitted to IGI. Would really like to hear everyone's opinion on this . Please respond via the list so we all can read your response. Thanks, Gwen Renshaw Maurer
Ancestry.com is offering a free database for a few days. Go to this URL http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4725.htm There are quite a few Renshaws in the database! Eleanor

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have found some "live" RENSHAW cousins. One is in Ohio and two are in Virginia. What I did was use the http://www.switchboard.com website to find RENSHAW surnamed people in the Richmond and Petersburg, VA area. I have received two replies in just two weeks from snail mail. One was a phone call from a first cousin once removed. The second letter reply is from a cousin that is a 2nd and 4th cousin. The first cousin is a man, and he was very pleased to know RENSHAW family was trying to find him. He has pictures of my grandmother Martha Louise RENSHAW. His father was her brother. My cousin never met my grandmother. He had his niece find letters from the cousin in Ohio so he could give me her address. The cousin from Lima, Ohio is a sister of the 2nd and 4th cousin. These two ladies are from a family of 15 RENSHAW children that were all born in Petersburg, VA. As a result of the cousin in Ohio giving me one more generation on my ANDREWS lineage, I found another set of grandparents in the ANDREWS line. I went to the Internet after talking to her and found a 3rd cousin once removed doing research. We have now learned that two ANDREWS brothers married PERKINSON sisters. That gives us dual relationships with may family members. This is amazing. Thank goodness for my Family Tree Maker. It helped me identify their relationships. I could never do it by myself. I now have added two more surnames to search: GISH and BELCHER. So far I don't have any PERKINSON ancestors. That would really complicate things if I find some. I have learned that my DAVIS cousin through my LUFSEY side has the name BELCHER in his lineage on his DAVIS side. The story goes on and on. I now have 5 more ANDREWS cousins with whom I need to correspond. The cousin in Ohio gave me an ANDREWS cousin in Florida. The cousin with the ANDREWS website gave me email addresses on two more ANDREWS cousins that are researching also. The past week and a half have my head spinning. I must say...hanging in there pays off. I have been searching using the Internet for almost 4 years, and all of a sudden, I now have 5 cousins that are researching also. One is a RENSHAW cousin. She was able to add another child to the list from the 1880 census that Gwen, our RENSHAW listowner, found for me. I now have a Hester RENSHAW, my great grandaunt, that was born in Petersburg, VA. Now I also know where my great grandfather William James RENSHAW I is buried. He is in Danville, Pittsylvania, VA in the Leemont Cemetery. I got that off his death certificate. Some kind researcher in Danville went to the cemetery to get a picture of the headstone for me, and found no headstone. William James' first wife, Susan E. ANDREWS-RENSHAW, is buried in the Vaughan Burial Grounds, outside of Petersburg, VA. My cousin in Ohio and her daughter went to Virginia searching for family, and found that one in a forest. The nice little old lady that lives there on the property turned out to be a relative of ours on the ANDREWS side. Just wanted to pass on my excitement to everyone. I'm still trying to find out who the parents of William Thomas RENSHAW, my gg grandfather, are. I know he had a brother named Henry. This past week while surfing on the Internet, I found a site that has the 1870 census for Montgomery Co., MD. In that census there are a Henry, a Thomas and a William. I'm hoping that the William is my gg grandfather, and Henry is his brother. Do you think I'll get real lucky, and find Thomas to be their father? We will see. I need more pieces to this puzzle to solve the mystery. Henry was a minister in or near Baltimore. William Thomas' youngest son Charles E. RENSHAW was also a minister in or near Baltimore. I hope everyone is having as much luck as I am. It's not easy work, but it sure in interesting. The nicest people in this world must be genealogists. Take care, Tina Ellis
