    1. [Renshaw] Benshar
    2. Every now and then, a member of this list shares an unusual spelling of "Renshaw" found on an index. I just discovered two of my Renshaws on the 1900 index alphabetized as Benshar. Sigh. Eleanor

    2. Some of the newcomers to this group may not be aware of Mortality Schedules. These were addenda to the censuses of 1850-1880 which showed who had died during the twelve months previous to the census date. 1. [Renshaw] TN> Pope Co IL ca. 1850
    2. I spent this Sunday afternoon browsing thru the Renshaw List archives for information on my particular line. I discovered several mentions of these people, and thought I might offer the information I have. By way of introduction I am a great-great granddaughter of Elijah S. Renshaw and Indiana V. Baker. Elijah's father's name is not known; his mother's first name was Mary (also known as Polly), her last name is not known. Elijah had a least one brother (John Perry) and two sisters (Sarah and Eliza). John Perry married Elizabeth Carr. Sarah married Freeman Baker, and Eliza married William Baker (Freeman's brother). I have birth, death, and marriage dates for most the descendents of these families up through the mid-1900's. I also have photos of family members dating back to the late 1800's, along with correspondence, poems, stories, written recollections, etc. I would be pleased to share any of this information with anyone having a connection to this line. What I do not have, as established earlier in this missive, is the first name of Elijah's father and the maiden name of his mother. This is my brick wall. Unsubstantiated reports mention the father was originally from Rowan NC and had died in TN, and that his first name might have been Henry (other reports mention it was also Elijah .. not the one who settled in Sangamon County). The 1850 & 1860 Censuses for Pope County show Mary (Polly) was born in Virginia. All four of the children (John Perry, Elijah, Sarah and Eliza) were born in Tennessee according to the Censuses. I look forward to hearing from other researchers on this line. If you'd like me to send the data I have as an attachment, kindly write directly to me (offlist). 1. [Renshaw] Robert M. Renshaw
    2. Samuel Crockett m. Seraphina Renshaw b. 1831 TN in Washington Co., TN. They followed her brother to Montana in the 1850's. I received information from an obituary for Seraphina: "Sam Crockett was called to Spokane on Thursday by the news that his mother, Mrs. S.C. Crockett (should be S.H.), had passed away in that city at the home of her brother, Robert M. Renshaw, who formerly resided in the valley here, and later for many years in Butte. Mrs. Crockett came to Bozeman with her only son about 1879 and had made her home in Bozeman until a few months ago when she went to Spokane to live with her brother......" I think this line of Renshaws later went to CA. I meant to post this earlier. Donna
