Hi everyone, Thursday I will be returning to my favorite research center. For those of you who are new. this facility has every US census ever performed, both the detail & soundexes for 1880-1920. As well as a wonderful collection of books from every state in the union, as well as numerous other research materials. Now anyone interested in a look up in any census for either your Renshaw or, this time I will accept request for surnames other than RENSHAW. Please post to the list, the name of the individual, county, state & year. Also please limit your requests to TWO individuals. I go to this facility every 5 weeks, so if I don't get to your individual this time, I will the next. Also as many of you know I have been in the process of typing up detail census records for our Renshaw's & posting to the list. I would welcome hearing from everyone what State & year you all would like to see posted. This facility allows me to bring home either 4 rolls of film or for books. I then can view them & record the data at my local FHC/LDS. Requests need to be posted by Wednesday evening. This is an all day trip. Happy researching everyone! Gwen

Hi Steve, Have you looked at the detail census, Tina specified? If not, would you like a look up? be glad to take a look. Gwen Ps. see my post on lookups!
Yes, they're mine. I would have replied sooner, but I didn't check email all weekend, and have been slogging through Tina's gazillion posts for the last hour or so! (Just kidding, Tina! We're all in your debt, and amazed). Patrick is my 3rd-gr-grandfather, and Isaac (my 2nd-gr-grandfather) and Levi are two of his sons. I think I posted the descendancy chart just a couple of weeks ago, so I won't repeat it. Levi died in Orange County in 1889, and I believe that he still has descendants in that part of Indiana. Isaac moved to Topeka, Kansas in the 1880s, where he died ca. 1902. Also in Tina's post for Indiana was a listing for Moore's Ridge Cemetery in Orange County: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MOORE'S RIDGE CEMETERY RENSHAW, Laura; dau of ILH. I've seen similar surnames twice... A birth or marriage record, forget which, for Jacob OLERENSHAW,1st quarter, 1849 in English civil records, which occurred in Haslingden, Lancashire. An obituary in my local newspaper, 24 june 1999, for Alice OLLERENSHAW. No idea if the names are related though! Ken Renshaw renbrown@netinc.ca Ancaster, Ontario, Canada
Hi Geroge, I think this may answer some of your questions. These were from old notes I have from data I found on Kindred Konnections. To find their site, go to http://www.kindredkonnections There are discrepancies because different people have submitted this data. Please be sure to check everything. Does your research connect in to any Olorenshaws? Are these two completely different surnames? I certainly could use some enlightenment. Hello Gwen & Tina & other listmembers: I would like to thank Gwen and Tina for all the posts they have made. I like how you post things and explain them. I have been searching for a very long time on mail lists, and want to let you all know how helpful you have been. I think I may have found what I am looking for. Once I check it out I will be able to post some information. You are all a great group to be associated with. I'm going to leave the list for a few weeks. We are getting a late start on out vacation this year. See you when we get back. Mary __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi All, Want to clear up a few things regarding Tina's post. Note to Tina: The Richard Renshaw, Tina, mentioned in connection to governor McKean IS NOT my ancestor. I have been trying to prove a connection between my line and his, but have not yet been successful. This Richard Renshaw, is the grandson of John Renshaw B. 1685 & Elizabeth Newcomb, also b.1685. I have done much research on this line and have extensive data on many branches. Among his the more noted descendants of John Renshaw, are Three great grandsons, who were civil war Naval officers. Lt. Commander, William Bainbridge Renshaw b.OCT. 11, 1816 served for the Union, D.1 Jan 1863 in the Battle of Galveston Bay,Texas. Rather than surrender his ship to the confederates, He set charges to his ship and they accidentally went off before he could vacate, he was lost in the explosion. His half brother, Captain Richard T. Renshaw b.1822 d.22 MAR 1879. Portsmouth, VA. (Union) LT. Commander, Francis Bostick Renshaw b. SEPT.1815 in Phila., PA , served as a confederate naval officer. Died 1867. William Bainbidge Renshaw & Francis Bostick Renshaw were actually engaged in a naval battle against one another. This was a classic example of families divided by the "Battle of the Rebellion". Gwen Renshaw Maurer Note: Tina in one of her many posts today referenced a book titled "A Very Violent Rebel" by Ellen Renshaw House - she was the niece of Francis Bostick Renshaw. I own & have read this book an it is excellent. If you ever wondered what day to day life was like during the civil war era, read this book it is her actual dairy. Her grandmother was Frances Budden Renshaw of Philadelphia.
Hi Gary, I will be going to a very good research center called Sutro in San Francisco this coming Thursday. it is my plan to check the detail census for your Garshelis family in the 1850 & 1860 NJ census as well as for Atlantic Renshaw. I will also look at the census referenced by Tina, lets hope I locate them. Gwen

Hello Everyone, Do any of you have any RENSHAW family in Pottstown, PA? I was talking to a cousin last night that tells me that we have family members in that area. Alice, my cousin, married into the MICHAEL family in Wilmington, DE, and they have RENSHAWs from Maryland in that line also. Her children have two different RENSHAW lines in their lineage. Does anyone that the surname of MICHAEL in their family? Tina Ellis ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
I ran a few searches at some Internet sites, and came up with two entries: Renshaw, Atlantic W. 1870-1879PACD286Census Index: Eastern PA, 1870 (#286) Renshaw, Atlantic William 1820-1829NJWFT Vol.37WFT Volume 37. Tree: 1132 These were found at the Family Tree Maker online site: http://www.familytreemaker.com/ifftop.html This is the site that they have that shows the places on the Internet where they have found information. This site also tells you if any researchers have submitted data to them. They place family trees on CDs and sell them to the public. I have a website at http://maxpages.com/poland that you can use to find someone that may have the CDs. Once you get to that site, click on Volunteers. We have volunteers that do book and CD lookups, and foreign language translations. Our volunteers don't have some of the newest CDs, but there are a couple of sites that may be able to help in this area of research also. There are also Genie Angels and Random Acts of Genealogial Research groups that may help you in obtaining documents from different parts of the country. Hope this helps others in their research. Renshaw 1813 - 1865 ........ +Mary Ann McKean 1821 - 1851 .... 2 Nancy Renshaw 1814 - ........ +James Vance 1812 - .... 2 James Renshaw, Jr. 1814 - .... 2 Joseph Renshaw 1816 - 1841 .... 2 Elizabeth Anne Renshaw 1824 - 1912 .... 2 Araminta Renshaw 1828 - 1918 I'm curious to see the names of the offspring you have for these children, and possibly the generation after that, meaning your third and fourth generations. I also noticed that your Thomas F. RENSHAW married Mary Ann McKEAN. Do you know if she was related to Governor McKean of PA, that appointed Richard RENSHAW as a judge in PA. Richard is a descendant of Gwen's. Maybe you can submit them to the list. I feel some of the researchers, like myself, may not be as far back as you are in your research. It's possible our members may be able to connect with a cousin that has not been able to do as great a job as you have with your research. Please submit your information to the list so that it will be stored in the Rootsweb archives for our list. This will be a great benefit for those that want to go back to check for old data submitted by our members. Many times we tend to skip over items that may prove to be usful at another time. The makes the storage space in our computers less cumbersome, and less paper to read. I like how you can just type in a name, and Rootsweb brings up all the letters with that name in it that have been sent to the list. Thank you very much in advance.
