Hi I am trying to gather information about William Reed who came to Canada from the USA about 1780 and claimed Loyalist status. His origin in the USA is unknown but is believed to be from the banks of the Delaware River. He is believed to have been a Sergeant in a Loyalist regiment but the regiment is unknown. He may be a descendant of John Read who settled in Providence in 1660 where he married a widow of Francis Derby. Children of John1 Read were: John2 b. 1697, Thomas2, William2, Mary and Abigail. Generation 2: The children of John2 were: John3, Daniel3, Eleazor3, Samuel3, William3, Mary3, Experience3, Mehetabel3 Generation 3: Eleazor3 had children: Moses4 and Eleazor4. Moses4 came to Canada as a Loyalist in 1784. It is possible that my William was a cousin of Moses and was a son of one of Eleazor3's brothers. Any ideas of suggestions would be welcome.
