Hello John Bettridge, Thank you for your response to my posting regarding these two ancestors of mine. I have been back through some of my old papers and found some data passed on to me by a cousin some years ago not long before he died. This cousin has had some paid research carries out in Derry during the early 1990's. All of his research papers have gone to his sister and she does not respond to my correspondence. I say this because I think more information may be known about Michael and Margaret. I just not have access to it. Anyway back to the papers I found. I have a photocopy a map of Derry which shows parishes. districts or it may even be townlands. I am not sure which. As with many such copies not all of the text is readable. However 4 parishes/districts/townlands have be highlighted, and a note appended at the bottom of the page. This note says; "Reids resided in the districts marked before emigrating to New Zealand", 1831 Desertlyn 1858 Aughadowey 1866 Coleraine 1870 Clondemot I presume that because this page is associated with my family papers then the contents refer to my family, although the text does not specifically say this. A grandson of Michael and Margaret, MICHAEL REID the son of BERNARD REID born 1847 in Colraine, married AGNES LOUISE BARLOW in the Catholic Chapel of Mullahinch in the district of Aughadowey, Coleraine, County Derry Northern Ireland on Oct 20 1866. Agnes was born abt 1848-49 daughter of RICHARD BARLOW miller, mother unknown. Michael's father Bernard a shopkeeper and publican is the only record I have of family for Michael and Margaret. Please tell me if you can what I should or could make of this? Regards Greg in Raumati New Zealand
