Freelton and Puslinch are both in Wellington County. There's no 1890 death registration for a James Reid at Puslinch, or anywhere in Wellington county. Have you found Samuel or James in the 1881 census? Are they father and son? What family members would they be listed with in census records? Civil registration of births didn't start until 1869 in Ontario, so there is no birth registration for Samuel. You'll need to look for church records instead.
