Here's what appeared in Genealogy Review today: )) As part of our Genealogy Watch List program, we are always on the look out for suspicious products and services. This morning we received another message from a web site whose practices we feel are unethical. CONSUMER ALERT )) The REAL Discovery at FamilyDiscovery.com (Source: Genealogy Watch List) We received another e-mail on March 6, 2001 claiming, "FamilyDiscovery.com will give you all the information you could possibly search for in a lifetime as we do add more records daily covering all 50 US States and Most Countries Overseas." From what we can tell, this site is charging people to search publicly available information that they have simply indexed. There is no indication that they obtain permission for the privilege of indexing other peoples' works, nor is there any mention that the original transcribers receive any of their proceeds. We strongly advise that you do NOT to this service. http://genealogytoday.com/go.mv?to=83&s=RN REPRINT PERMISSION )) Permission to Reprint information within this newsletter is granted unless specifically stated otherwise, PROVIDED: (1) the reprint is used for non-commercial, educational purposes; and (2) the Genealogy Today is credited and includes the web address: http://www.genealogytoday.com/
