We may have corresponded before. I knew an Asa "Ace" Reid, a prominent cartoonist, who died in Kerrville, TX several years ago. The Asa Reid line you are researching is almost certainly his (it comes up a lot). Ace and I never found a link with my own Reid line, but I suspect one exists prior to 1830. You mention a Benj. HUGHES. I am a cauc. Reid whose GGGF Jesse Taylor Reid (b ~1830 probably Coweta Co, GA) married Ellender Magdalene Hughes (b. 1833, in GA) in Talapoosa Co., Alabama. Ellender's father, Benajah (Benager, Buck) Hughes was b. in SC about 1790 or 1800. Her mother was possibly Cowan. Ellender had at least two sisters, Matilda and Amanda. Benajah's father was Benjamin Hughes, b. ~1759 in SC. He married Anna Mason (b. SC I think). Benjamin's & Anna's children were Leah, Wesley, Benajah, Mary, Simeon, William, Riley, Nancy, Jacob, Chesley, and John W., all apparently born in SC between about 1790 and 1827 (mostly estimates). I am especially interested in the REID/REED line before Jesse Taylor Reid (e.g., his parents, Mary and probably John), and in Jesse's siblings' lines. ANY information about those folks (especially prior to 1830) would be appreciated. Hope this helps. I will also try to email it to you privately so we can be in touch as needed.
