I research a Caucasian Reid line whose oldest known patriarch is a John Reid, prob. borh in NC or SC around 1790, may have married Polly (Mary) Hutson, had children between about 1813 and 1834 named (roughly in order) James, Andrew, Cortney, Louisa/Elize, John, Phillip, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, William, Jesse T., Abner, and George Washington. The family was in GA from about 1813 until about 1940 , then migrated (with or without the father) to Tallapoosa Co., AL. The mother, known then as "Mary Reid," died about 1862. At least two of the children (Jesse -- my line -- and James) ended up in Texas. At least two stayed in AL (Those of George W. Reid and Mary Ann Reid Ray). The George Washington Reid/Reed line includes a marriage to Beard (spelled various ways), and has been well researched. Very happy to correspond with you or others.
