Dick was born in Santa Ana, CA on October 13, 1924. He graduated from Santa Ana High School and later received his B.A. in political science from U.C. Berkeley. Dick spent 35 rewarding years working for Los Anageles County, first in the Chief Administrative Office and later for the County Engineer. Dick loved to travel, whether it was a day trip to the mountains or a long trip abroad. He was always planning the next trip. Dick was an avid bicyclist with the 60/50 Bicycling Club and spent long and happy hours with his cycling friends. Dick was one of those rare individuals who genuinely cared about others. He was loved and admired by so many- both family and friends- who knew what a wonderful human being he was. Dick is survived by his devoted wife Joy, to whom he was married for 54 years, and his loving daughters Pamela Reid and Karen Reid.! Published in the Whittier Daily News on 9/20/2007.
