I recently subscribed to this list, and just noticed a message regarding a roll call, so I thought I'd outline my REID interests. Maggie REID is my g-grandmother. She married George PORTEOUS in Toronto in 1874. They lived at 50 Nelson Street (regrettably, a street that is today almost end-to-end parking lots) in central Toronto after they were first married. This home was the residence of Isabella REID (Maggie's mother), widow of Joseph REID. Perhaps because of my g-grandfather's cabinet making trade, they lived in a number of Ontario towns, including Almonte, Stratford, Perth, and Dundas. Maggie died in Dundas, Ontario in 1888, possibly as a result of complications arising from childbirth. She is buried in the Grove Cemetery in Dundas, Ontario.
