Hello to all REID-listers! I am excited to find out about this list and anxious to post my interests. In the beginning we know of ALEXANDER REID b. approx. 1773 m. June 26, 1796 in Rathven, Banff to Lillias Ross b.1773 in Rathven. Alexander & Lillias had 8 children: Alexander b.1798, Ann b. 1800, Lillias b. 1802, David b. 1805, William b. 1807, Hugh b. 1809, Isabel b. 1811, and John b. 1813, all in Rathven Banff, Scotland. My GGG -Grandfather was HUGH REID m. Elspeth CRAIB b. Keith, Banff, Scotland. They had nine children: Margaret b. about 1844, Alexander b. about 1845 in Scotland, the others were born in Sorel, Quebec, Canada, William b. 1846 d. 1848, William b. 1848, John b. 1852, Hugh b. 1854, Henry b. 1856, Caroline b. 1858, and George b. 1860. Margaret was my GG-Grandmother m. Francois Connant at Notre Dame de Montreal in 1861. >From here although the name ahould have changed to "Connant" in fact many members of the family took the Maternal name of "REID" to save all the misspellings and mispronunciations. Thus many of my cousins are REIDS while I was a Conant. Cinfusion reigns. Hope to help anyone who is interested in our family, and would love to hear from some other REIDS. Thanks.
