Felix The Clan is Donnachaidh, an old Clan, one of the original four of the Kaledonoi, called that by Caeser of Rome, Kaledonoi not Donnachaidh. Donnachaidh Reamhair, or stout Duncan was the progenator of the Clan, before him we were unbanded Scots trying to survive in the highlands. He brought the Clan together so we are Clan Donnachaidh, children or property of Duncan. We served our allegiance was to this man and still is. Duncan while helping hide Robert the Bruce from the King of England was born a son by his wife. He named the child Robert. Robert the Bruce was his best friend and they were of equal strength and enjoyed hunting, fighting, drinking, and eating together back then and he was so touched by his friends jesture that he held the babe in his arms and said "From time to now you have been known as the children of Duncan, but I swear this day to protect your clan as my own children alike and ye shall be also called the sons of Robert." So Roberts children were known as ! the Robertsons of Clan Donnachaidh, but they have never been an official Clan, a clan of Robertsons true as we call our families our clan, we Duncan's are liable to say. Now the Reids who were a branch of the clan with the red hair, who were the Reids of Clan Donnachaidh are also part of your family and therefore you can wear any of the tartans in any of the colors you prefer. We have a Duncan brown, a Robertson brown, a Struan Robertson, a Red Robertson, an ancient Robertson, an Ancient Duncan, a Modern Duncan, a Hunting Robertson, a muted Hunting Robertson, a Red Reid and a Green Reed, take your pick and enjoy, hey get one of every color. I have three sashes in the different colors of Ancient and Modern Duncan and Red Robertson, I also want Brown Duncan. My son prefers the Modern Duncan in small kilt and Muted Hunting Robertson in the Great kilt. He needs a Brown and a Struan Robertson which I find exceptional. Look in your area through Scottish organizations, like St. ! Andrew Society or a Caledonian Club and get hooked up with your branch or you can join any branch you choose to support...This one is great that I'm in. So much knowledge (correct knowledge) and people who are really involved in the main branch in Scotland. A couple of them are from Pitlochery. I get lots of info and they are all truly wonderful people. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
