Seeking information on Annie Reid, who gave her age as 23yrs in 1870 (b. C1847) born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She gave birth to a daughter also named Annie Reid in Melbourne Australia on 30th October 1870. The child spend a lot of time being reared by an Ellen Rogers. Annie Snr gave no details of the father of the child on Annie Jnrs birth certificate. On Annie Jnrs marriage certificate her father was stated as John Reid with the name Smith written underneath. I feel this may be a 'cover up' as the father maybe unknown BUT I could be wrong. Annie Snr stated her maiden name was Annie Reid on the birth certificate for Annie Jnr. Family 'story' has it that she was pregnant to the son of the house and fled to Australia and that her family advertised in a Melbourne paper for her to contact and she refused.
