Surnames: REID Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DVCBAEB/3729 Message Board Post: My ancestor John W Reid (b. about 1825) is listed in the 1850 census for Carroll Co. So far I haven't been able to link him to the other Reids of Carroll Co. But I do believe that he was a member of that family. Doing research on Matthew Reid I found one son I was not able to identify in the 1830 and 1840 censuses for Carroll Co, who would be a perfect match. 1830 census 2 sons under 5 (George F Reid and unidentified) 1840 census 1 son under 5 (Robert?) 1 son 5-10 (Rhesa?) 2 sons 10-15 (George and unidentified) Does anybody know the identity of this unidentified son? Could it be my John W? If it is, it would make him Matthew's eldest son. Hope somebody can help. Would love to hear from anybody researching this line.

    3. I am searching for information about my ancestor John Reid and his descendants. John Reid was born in Fenwick circa 1815. He married Mary Barclay at Paisley in 1845. The couple lived at Montgreenan and had three children, William, Janet and Elizabeth. The family left Scotland in 1855 as bounty immigrants to Tasmania (Australia). There are many descendants in Australia and New Zealand. Any information about John Reid’s parents and other descendants would be welcome. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I meant, to commend you for catching the different, years on record, for Annabella ,,birth. I quoted 1896. I meant to quote the misleading date, in the 1901 cens. for her birth as being, 1872, verses, the birth for her estim. in the 1911 cens. as being, 1895.(which would be more in keeping, if the mar. reg. for her mother Elizabeth nee Reid/Murray was in 1872) My previous note,s a good example of my own carelessness, of not proof reading my own notes. Thanks once again!! Nancy

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Reid Murray Murry Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DVCBAEB/1549.9.1.1 Message Board Post: Thankyou Wendy, for your information, regarding the possible marriage, registration of, Elizabeth Reid. The mar. date, which you suggested, I would likely not have considered, their marriage date of July 1892 ,because of their daughters birth given in the 1901 cens. as July 8 1896. However, because you compared approximent births for her daughter Annabella, with her birth date estimated as 1895, in the 1911, census, then her parents, marriage record which you suggested as being a match for 1892, DOES seem the most likely match. I would have been thrown off, considering, 1892, as her marriage record, because I had only referenced the 1901 census, and wouldn,t have considered, her daughters birth year as being off. So THANK YOU for your expertise, and close attention to detail, and non presumptiousness. It sites a good example, of your detective skills. I,m not sure, why Elizabeth,s BIRTH ! registration isn,t in records, for approx. February 29, 1872. I was hopeing, that either, through her, birth or, her marriage record, that I might clarify, from which particular Reid family she was from. I will check out the REID family, of, Robert & Susan Reid, living in Ekfrid, Middlesex East, in 1881 as per the census, which you mentioned, has, a daughter, Elizabeth age approximent, to the Elizabeth nee REID. Thankyou for going above and beyond, in assisting my research, regarding the REID family branch.A FULL extraction, of the marriage record referenced by yourself, will greatly assist, in identifying and clarifying Elizabeth REID,s family of origin. Thankyou once more, Nancy

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DVCBAEB/1549.9.1 Message Board Post: Was Lizzie the daughter of Robert & Susan Reid, living in Ekfrid, Middlesex East, in 1881 as per the census? That seems to match the birthdate you have. I checked the Ontario birth registration index and there are no 1892 Ontario birth registrations for an Elizabeth Reid on that date. To help get a better sense of the relevant marriage date for Lizzie, I searched the census records at www.automatedgenealogy.com. In 1901 Angus & Lizzie 'Murry' were living in Duwich, Elgin West, Ontario with 3 children and Angus's parents. In 1911 the 'Murray' family were still at Dunwich with 5 children and Angus's mother. The 1901 census shows first child 'Anebell' as being born 8 Jul 1892, but the 1911 census has Annabell's birth as Jul 1895. I looked for Elizabeth or Lizzie Reid marriage registrations from 1890 to 1894. The most promising looking one was for an Elizabeth E. Reid at Middlemiss, Ekrid Twp., Middlesex Co. on 09 Jul 1892, registration #00755892. Of course you'll need to get the actual registration to be sure this is the right marriage. I can't help on death records as I only have the Reid indexes, not Murray indexes. Hope this helps your research. Contact me again if there's any other Reid info I can look up for you.
