Or where in TN they may have been? About what year was she born? I have a bunch of Mary's, a birthdate if known would narrow the search. I am looking for a Phebe Reed b 1820 in TN or AL. Possible sibs Ann and maybe Nancy and Elizabeth. There are at least 3 Reed/Reid and even other Read families in Marshall Co. TN early 1800's. I don't have much on the Reads. The Reed/Reids that are possibles with Mary's about the right age are: John Reed b abt 1776 m Esther Cathey b Mecklinburg NC, dau Mary Hannah Reed b abt 1795. James Reid b abt 1767 m Phebe Calhoun one of their granddaughters was a Mary Reed b 1832 in AL, and George W Reed/Reid b abt 1818 NC. Not sure of any other info for him. Parents appear to be sally & levi Reed. He has no sister named Mary though, but possible aunts. There are various Jones Families in Marshall (Pre-1836 Maury Bedford Lincoln and later Giles Counties.) I'm not sure about the Lovelady surname, but it sounds familiar. The above info is from The Marshall Co Historical Society's Quarterlies. There is a Mary Reed b NC 1806 to George Reed b 1760 and Martha Green from NC. FHL has Martha dying in Lincoln Co. TN which is next to Marshall. I'm not sure how or if these 3 families are related. There is also a Daniel Reed b abt 1785 in SC and lived in Washington Co AL early 1800's. I don't have any further info on him, but I can put you in touch with someone who may. The Joneses were from NC and possibly came to Perry County by way of Tennessee, possibly travelling with the Lovelady family. I can find no trace of Mary or who her parents were. The granddaughter of my grgr grandfather John Reid was Lucy Reid & she mrd Benjamin Trimble. Their daughter Isabella mrd Robert Beeby Ritson in 1907 at Carlisle. Isabella Ritson died in 1915 with no children. I do not know if her husband remarried? His family was, see below. I also have Irvings on both sides of my mothers family. My grgrgr grandmother Eliza Louden, 1st mrg Thomson of Annan & 2nd mrg to James Pool of Annan ard 1830, my grgrgr grandfather. Eliza Louden was 1st cousin to Rev Edward Irving of Annan, Scotland. James Reid, son of John & Isabella Reid mrd Martha Irving in 1880 at Carlisle and their children were, Elizabeth Reid, John Irving Reid, Isabella Reid, Lucy Reid & Nancy Irving Reid. Looking for information on John Morris Reid (1865-1945). Originally married to Mary Ellen Brooks (1870-1914) in Pennsylvania. He left her and went out to California where he married a woman by the name of "Emma" who was listed on his death certificate as his widow. My grandmother just passed and she was the granddaughter of Peirce. There have been several well known people come out of this line, including the Smother's brothers from tv. Several stokes county sheriff's in the Dunlap family. Ken Brown and Boyd Joyce have an extensive detail of history on the family of William (Billy) Reid.
