    3. Hello Everybody, First of all, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my e-mail on the "Reids" from Auchterarder, especially regarding the matter on 'naming patterns' within Perthshire. I would now like to discover whether there is any way, to search for "Bailiffs " active within Perthshire from approx. 1830. Does anybody know of any lists or documents available on this subject? Also, can any one tell me whether the 1841, 1851 or 1861 census's of Perthshire have been indexed? And would it be possible to find any particular person by their Name or Profession.I.e. 3. Is there a Walter E. REID in this family? He married Ella Leora Misner French. They divorced, but I'm trying to find out if Walter had two sons when he married Ella. I'm quite certain they had no children together and that she came to California from MIchigan with her son from her first marriage. My line is really with Ella, but I'm trying to determine if the other two REID children were Walter's by another marriage. This has been my brick wall for a long time. Any help would be so appreciated. 3. Do any of you Reid researchers know which John M. Reid this Alfred is son of? 1883 Henry County, Missouri Biographies REID, Alfred - Bethlehem Township, Henry Co, MO - Alfred Reid, farmer, section 7, is one of the earliest settlers of this county. John M. Reid, his father, was born in Madison County, Kentucky, and emigrated to Howard County, Missouri, in 1809. His wife, Margaret, was also of Madison County, and accompanied her father, Joseph Woolfskinn, to Howard County, Missouri, in 1810. They had two children. Alfred was born in Howard County December 25, 1821, and when quite young the family removed to Cooper County where they resided until about 1830. Thence going to Saline County they lived there till October, 1832, when they came to Henry County, settling near where Mr. R. now resides. Here he was reared among the trials and hardships of pioneer life, and has always followed agricultural pursuits. He has where he lives over 123 acres of well improved land. Mr. Reid was united in marriage December 21, 1848, to Miss Nancy Lee, a native of Howard County, Missouri. They have five children: James A., John W., Sarah M., Mary E. and Marcy A. From 1847 to 1850 Mr. R. was road overseer of Henry County. - Source: History of Henry and St. Clair Counties Missouri 1883, National Historical Co., page 790 Don L. Fox [email protected]

    3. Speaking of name changes, the Walter E. Reid I am looking for was married for a time to Ella Leora Misner, a divorcee from William Daniel French. She had her one son go by the name of Reid and all of his descendants went by Reid also. Actually I don't believe she had any children at all with W. E. Reid, but he may have had two sons, George and William, by his first marriage. If anyone has any information on this Walter E. Reid with two sons, I would sure be a happy person to know about it. I find it quite interesting that so many of my relatives go by the name of Reid when there really are no Reids in our family! He married Ella Leora Misner in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI. They were later divorced and I know she came to California. Linda Kay "A. 3. Greetings REID listers, My name is Jacqueline Reid. I am looking for information on my great-grandfather, Charles Reid, born c1875 in either Michigan or Minnesota. He moved to Denver, Colorado at some point in the 1890s and married Edyth McCloy. Their children included John Grant Reid, Geraldine Reid, Gowan Reid (who eventually moved to California and died there), and two Charles Reids. He may also have been related to a Grant Reid (possibly a brother or cousin) who also lived in Denver during the early 1900s. I am trying to trace Charles's roots, including any parents or siblings. I am also looking for my half uncle, Wallace Reid, son of John Grant Reid. Wallace fought and was injured in the Korean War and was probably age 18-20 at the time of the war. He may be living in California. Unfortunately I don't know much more. Any help on either inquiry would be appreciated. I'm glad to see that the activity on this list has picked up!
