It takes a lot of courage for someone to publicly admit to a mistake. I am very grateful to you for doing so on the Reeves list. I am sure that my message was not what convinced you, but the efforts of those loving friends of yours who helped persuade you that there is a better way to gather your genealogical facts. I also want to apologize to you for my scathing remarks and assure you first, that I did not know you are Carol Clay, (I thought C. Clay was someone you were quoting) and second, I do stand behind my remarks, perhaps with an excuse that involves something like "tough love." You asked in your first email to me several days ago to tell you what I know about the Reeve family. I did not do so. My reason is that I am not yet ready to publish my findings on the Internet. I have not yet completed my study of the Thomas Reeve1 and James Reeve1 controversy, so I am hesitant to broadcast my findings. I do not wish to add any more evidence to the "mess" without first being sure of my evidence. Be assured that I will submit my findings fairly soon and I hope that my efforts will prove a valuable addition to the ongoing study of the early Reeve family. May I wish you all the luck in your search, Carol, and I hope you will find the answers you are looking for. And continue to trust those friends who helped persuade you to change your mind.
