    1. Re: [REEVES] C. Clay's list of ancestors
    2. Beulah: I would have preferred that you chastise me in the list, rather than privately. The rest of the group has a right to know that you are unhappy with my message. I know that I am often blunt in my emails, but I do not consider my message to be in an way out of order. Carol Suny has taken the message as a personal attack, which it was not and was not meant to be (for this I apologize). Carol unfortunately has identified too closely with this list, and therefore is understandably angry. I just hope she is angry enough to follow through on verifying the data. My beef is not with Carol, it is with the originator of the list, C. Clay. I for one am just about fed up with the constant bombardment of irresponsible information that is circulated on the Internet. I will be happy to reserve any further comments I may have for the few serious researchers with whom I have had the pleasure of making contact. I am too old and too much of an arrogant SOB to change my ways or soften my dialogue . Do you still want me to participate on your DNA project? Beulah Reeves McCain Reeves List Manager In a message dated 8/8/2005 12:40:10 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: The list of family members submitted by Carol Suny from C. Clay reads like something out of the "Enquirer." A compilation like this is suspect from the beginning with its lack of narrative to support the claims. Anyone who is at all familiar with the lineage of Thomas Reeve (not Reeves, as in the list) will know immediately that this description is a mixture of first Thomas with his son second Thomas, who is the one who died in 1682 and was married to Agnes Rider. I am not aware of any place named Suffolk, Livingston, NY. The two Thomases were from Southold, Long Island, which later became Suffolk County. Mary Harpley is an unknown in Southold. There is no one in any of the literature on Southold with the name Harpley. Walter I Reeves, if the son of the cited Thomas Reeve, would have to have been born at some other time than 1654, unless we put Mary Purrier's marriage as early as 1643, making her 14 or 15 at the time. The 1654 (or thereabouts) date also conflicts with the proposed dates of Thomas's sons, Thomas and James. Also, there is no evidence of a Walter Reeves in Southold in the middle 1650s when records existed. If he was in fact the youngest son of Thomas, he must have moved from Southold even before reaching the age of 21. Robert Reeve of Caldercote has yet to be proved the father of Thomas, but for now he is only a good possibility. And where did Clay get the name Ann Raynor as a wife of Robert? Richard A.
