Hi, I am in the process of going through court and land records from Surry,Rowan,Iredell North Carolina in the years 1750 thru 1825 on these particular documents have found the overwhelming majority of the spelling to be Reavis or Reaves. These records are the originals on microfilm. It is very possible some of these people are Reeves and the county Clerks who wrote the deeds spelled the name the same for every one. I have noticed when I am going through books looking for Reeves the authors seem to throw all of the spellings together whether it is Reeves or Reaves Reavis. I have even gone to the original documents and the spellings are different than what the author has written in their books. So it pays to check the original. Even as late as 1870 my gg grandfather Edmond Reeves was enumerated as Edmond Reves. So it is worthwhile to look at every spelling. Sharon
