    1. Earliest Known Reeves
    2. We have a total brick wall on our Reeves line. J.W. Reeves (my great grandfather) was born 1873. He lived at one time in Little River County, AR. His mother's name was Emelia (Amelia) Ann sometimes called "Mellie". We only have a photo of her. J.W. was sometimes called "Jim" so am assuming he was James W. Reeves. Sometimes spelled Reves on his marriage certificate in 1898 in Little River County. There are a few other Reeves living in the area who are caucasian. A Lee Reeves with wife Samantha, but not old enough to be J.W.'s father. A John Reeves with wife Nancy born 1815, too old to be J.W.'s father. And a Thomas Benton Reeves who was about the right age to be a sibling, but not living with his parents in 1880 census. So far no connection to any Reeves line. The remaining Reeves in that county were Black or Mulato. J.W. was definately caucasian or part American Indian. His mother's photo shows her to be fair skinned and definately caucasian. No other leads, no clues, nothing. We do know that Emelia divorced J.W.'s father at some time and married a Mr. Jones of Nacogdoches, TX. She was living in Nacogdoches in 1915. Anyone out there having any information on Reeves who lived in either Sevier County, AR or Little River County around 1850-1900, please contact me.
