    3. Wow! Not easy to track down. I called my neighbor who worked 41 years at General Mills. He didn't know him. <g> I also called General Mills and talked with several people and because Knox Reeves was NOT employed there they couldn't tell me much except for the typical stories everyone else has heard. This story has not been verified as far as GM is concerned. She did say that Knox Reeves was working for another ad agency when he supposedely coined that phrase. See URL below for more info. http://www.answers.com/topic/wheaties Btw, The History Channel has been working with that same individual I spoke with at Gen. Mills. Ummmmmmmm. Today, I received a request from a man who is developing a story for the "History Channel" about the history of Breakfast Cereals. I know this doesn't sound very exciting, but apparently the person who coined the phrase "Wheaties, the Breakfast of Champions" was a man named Knox Reeves. This researcher is trying to locate as much information as possible about Knox Reeves for the show. In particular, he would like to be able to contact any descendants of Knox Reeves and/or obtain a photograph of him. I searched my database but was unable to find anything about this Knox Reeves, but did find a few articles that mentioned him on the Internet. I also found a few bits of information about him on Ancestry.com. Here is what I know. His name was O. Knox Reeves and he owned an advertising agency in Minneapolis, Minnesota and did a lot of work for General Mills. He coined the Wheaties trademark slogan mentioned above on the spur of the moment. I did not find a birth or marriage record for him, but found him in the Minnesota Death Index. O. Knox Reeves died on November 15, 1936 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. He was buried in the Acacia Park Cemetery in Dakota County, Minnesota. If anyone knows anything more about this person, I would appreciate it very much if you would help me out. Thanks, Barry Reeves ==== REEVES Mailing List ==== To contact the LISTOWNER: email <[email protected]> Beulah Reeves McCain

    3. Anne, Thanks for taking the time to check on this. I did a little research on my lunch break today as well, but didn't really find anything new. Since he died in 1936 and the Knox Reeves Advertising Company was bought out several years ago by a bigger company, there are probably not too many people around that know much about him first hand.
