He married Nancy Goodwin, of Pendleton County area. Her family moved into Trigg and Christian Counties in Kentucky. James and Nancy moved to Christian County, KY, between 1790 and 1800. He appears on land records for both Sinking Fork and Piney Fork Treadwaters. Later this family moved to Gallatin Co. Illinois and then into Obion,TN area. Descendents moved into southwestern Arkansas and the I.T. by 1850. Nancy Goodwin Reeves was deceased by 1841, as proven by her father's will. There were ten children born to this line: Susan, Jesse Goodwin, William, Samuel, Urias, Elizabeth, Leah, Lettie, Nancy, Bethel Chester. Does this line sound familiar? The 1790 Greenwood Census shows both James and John Reeves. Are these folks related to your line? John may have been a brother who remained in S. Carolina. I would love to connect them and find out their ancestry.
