Tommie, I received these papers on George Reeves from a lady in Clarksville TN. I couldn't help her. She said most of their ancestors and present day family used Rives, Reves, Some of the more recent names that they were looking for were Miles Reves/Reeves was brother to Joel. He was the son of Jordan. She gave the name of Miles wife as Ann Pace. This is one statement she made. Enclosed is a list of the slaves of Miles Reeves taken from estate settlement. Not e the name Jordan. Both Miles and Joel had a slave named Jordan. Neither had a son by that name so it may be a coincidence or they were not fond of their father. Bot h have a son by the name Joseph. Our Miles named his first son Joseph. this must have been a dear name to him in the family. I came in of the Joel as she was hoping my Joel Avery was the same Joel but it wasn't. There were one or two other Joel Avery's or Joel that have been mixed up with mine. James son of Jeremiah and bvrother to my Joel Avery named a son Joel Avery. It is said Malachi did also but the boy died young in life. There were one in Ga and I think one in SC that had the same name. This may give some of the Reeves a clue if they are related to this family. There are some land records etc here also. Hope this will help someone. But back to Ichabod 's will. I have seen wills where the father didn't leave all the children something. Joel Avery left a dollar / maybe it was 5 dollars I would have to look to be sure but think it was a dollar. He stated that he did that so they knew they were not forgotten. My way of thinking they left the surrounding area and he gave them what he could or thought was necessary at that time. I have another will from AL that did about the save ... the father stated he gave them $5.00 a gun, horse or whatever when they left and that was sufficient. Guess Ichabod didn't think it was necessary to do that. Or he may have had lapses of memory or possibly he was mad with them. Sometimes our ancestors didn't think about what impressions they left or cared at all. Probably didn't think about anything like that......... That is what so much fun in Genealogy you learn a lot and sometimes have a good laugh. Thanks Beulah In a message dated 10/25/2007 12:18:26 A.M. I did find a small copy of a small will of Icabod signed on Dec 23, 1836. Oddly though he only mentioned as children to receive inheritances , Simeon W.,Mary Ann, Samuel N. and James H. He mentions his wife but does not call her by name. Perhaps he had already given gifts to the others or they had died or perhaps were not in favor with him. I did not see that it showed the county or state. It was witnessed by William Tunstall, Joseph Herring and William Johnson. When possible I hope to see what I can dig up on some of the sons as far as male descendants. It well may be that someone just typed the message. It is not written by hand. I may have been the one to give you the material on the George Reeves, son of Thomas. Theirs is a very interesting family. Due to the fact it is 11:00 p.m. here in Texas I will post pone getting into it tonight but if anyone wants to hear it let me know. If you have a copy of the Reeves Review II it contains a story about Charlotte Reeves and the migration to what we know as Nashville Tn. Today. She was a gutsy lady and a statue stands near the river area in Nashville today to her honor. They did not turn out to be especially close ancestors to me. Thanks for all your work Beulah.
