    1. [REEVES] Jeremiah Reeves
    2. Hello out there. Anyone around? I know it has been hot and in some cases rainy and in other cases bad situations and I sincerely hope none of you are in the last category. School has started in most places and hopefully we can now get down to researching our ancestors and see if we can find more facts about them. Our DNA project is moving forward and am hopefully we will start making more matches. This is a good time for all of us to post something on our line to remind the others who we are researching or who is our brick wall. If we don't post occasionally no one will remember who you posted 6 months ago, especially after the summer slowdown. I am still hoping for more information on Joel Avery Reeves and his father Jeremiah. My proof is slim but I believe it is correct but would love to have more to go with it. All the facts I have seem to fit like a glove but the problem lies in the use of names. Jeremiah and the family evidently called Joel Avery just Avery but after he married and moved to Jasper Co. GA from Wilkes Co., GA most of the documents and will etc. Joel Avery was used. Quite a few people have said this wasn't unusual as there could have been someone in the area or kin that had the same name or one of the names and to avoid confusion he used both names. It is pretty well established from Jeremiah on back to William of Guilford Co., NC but have to work on William and find proof from him to his father....... I know everyone has some problems. Let's help each other. If we find something referring to any Reeves let's post it to the list. Lets get busy and really work hard the rest of the year on our family lines. 3. Please be aware that the descendants of John D Reeves b 1758 Halifax Co NC d 1841 Siloam NC m Sarah Locke Elwell will be gathering in Siloam, in Surry Co NC. Anyone interested in the heritage of this line of Reeves family is welcome. Date Oct 20, 2007 starting at 10:00. Through the Reeves Surname project we have confirmed the descendants of Richard Elwell Reeves b 1788 Cumberland Co NC d 1790 TN and Micajah Reeves b 1796 d 1848, and Jesse Reeves b 1800 Siloam d TN. We may well have all lines represented of John D's for the first time since 1820's. Billy Fred Reeves and I are very excited having worked on this for some time. Without the Reeves Surname DNA effort it would not have happened. This story is quite interesting with a number or surprises. I look forward to meeting Billy Fred Reeves and others for the first time! Please respond to me for details!
