Hi ! Connie, In response to your posting of Ferry operators of Pomeroy, Just a tidbit about a Reeves Ferry operator in Burlington County, New Jersey who was an ancestor relative of the Reeves that came to Meigs County in 1803. John Reeves b. 1674, son of 1652 Walter Reeves of Burlington County, New Jersey was granted in 1704 "The right to keep a ferry from Burlington to Philadelphia." This was one of the most valuable franchises of that day. The grant was made by Governor Cornbury. E. S. Carney, Portland: Noah Stanley, Ravenswood, W. Kleshing, Letart Falls; Jonas Wolf, O.K. Landing at Apple Grove; J. A. Harris, Condeville, at the lower end of Syracuse; W. B. Cross, Reedsville, and corporation ferries at Racine, Syracuse and the lower end of Middleport. The coming of the Pomeroy Bend Bridge eliminated the steam ferries at Pomeroy and Middleport.
