Don't forget every possible alternate spelling. We always knew my grandfather as John Garland and I suspected his name was really Joshua Garland but his WWI draft registration card is "Garlin Josaway." He could not read or write, so he didn't know it was spelled wrong (made is mark "X" next to "G.J.Reeves" on the sign-here line.
