    1. [REEVES] Roll Call
    2. Tommie Smith
    3. Hi Beulah and Listers. This seems like a good time for a roll call and I look forward to hearing from the group. I believe we have a number of new members. In one way or another I have documented my line up to Thompson Reeves b. 1799 who married Lucindia Rilla b. 1800. I think she was a Robinson. They were born either in the early counties in Georgia or Pendleton Dist. S.C. area. In their early twenties they were in Gwinnett Co. Ga. Census with two young females. The moved to Newton Co. Ga. Chambers Co. GA. Randolph Co. Alabama and Clay Co. Alabama. I descend from their son James Marion Reeves b. 1823 in Gwinnett Co. GA. And his wife Mary Ann Childers. This couple were the parents of Elijah Wallace Reeves who is my grand father. His son was my dad Thomas Van Buron Reeves. I also descend from a daughter of Thompson and “ Cinderella” called “Polly” who married Samuel Scott, JR. ca. 1850. Polly and Sam had a daughter name Mary Anna Scott. Mary Anna Scott grew up to marry Elijah Wallace Reeves mentioned above. This means that the parents of my father Thomas Van Buron Reeves b. 1896 were Eliljah Wallace and Mary Anna who were first cousins. I have not been able to document the parents of Thompson Reeves or Lucinda Rilla ( Cinderella) to date. I do not believe that Thompson was the son of William and Elizabeth Lawson or a possible second wife of William. They were possibly related very closely. I am open to any suggestions and help. Good luck to all. Tommie

    3. Beulah, Thanks for the roll call. It is a great way to bring us back to the task and renew our search for the thread that ties our families together. My Reeves' family goes as follows: Harry Mathew Reeves Mathew Wilson Reeves (Georgia -- March 22, 1868 - May 9, 1844) Mark Wilson Reeves (Georgia -- November 9, 1834 -- 1912) Leroy Reeves (Born in SC) The first evidence of Leroy is land drawn in the Georgia Gold Lottery of 1832 while residing in DeKalb County; he moved to Cobb County, Georgia and then later to Calhoun County, Ala. after 1852; he may have died there (his widow returned to Georgia before 1870). I suspect, but cannot prove, that Leroy's father was Malachi Reeves (died 1859 in Cobb County Georgia). Both were in DeKalb County, Georgia, both moved to Cobb County, Georgia before 1840, and they lived in adjacent dwellings. Others living nearby in Cobb County around 1840 were John, Littleton, and Thompson. Malachi was in DeKalb County as of 1827. Before that Malachi appears to have been in Gwinnett County, portions of which were used to create DeKalb County. Malachi and Thompson are found in Jackson County by 1816. Gwinnett County was created from Jackson County and DeKalb from Gwinnett. It is quite possible that Malachi and related families lived in the same area from around 1810 or so until his move to Cobb County around 1840. Regards, Richard A. Reeves

    3. Greetings! My Reeves' family is as follows: Burgess Reeves, b. 1794 in Pendleton District, SC. I have not been able to document this yet. Archibald T. Reeves, b. ca. 1816 in Gwinnett Co., GA. He was buried in Liberty Grove Cemetery in Randolph Co., Alabama. I have not been able to document the date and place of birth or the place he was buried, but I have documented that Archibald T. was my great great great grandfather. Maretta Jane Reeves Griffin, b. Dec. 10, 1949 in, I believe, Covington, Newton Co., GA, d. Jan. 15, 1935 in San Diego County, CA. She is buried in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in San Diego, San Diego Co., CA. Martha Jane Griffin Crow, b. May 29, 1876 in, I believe, Randolph Co., Alabama, d. July 2, 1951 in Yuma, Yuma Co., AZ. She is buried in Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Yuma. Alberta Mary Crow Timm, b. Oct. 22, 1903 in, I believe, Childress Co., TX, d. Nov. 13, 1996 in Huntington Beach, Orange Co., CA. She is buried in Westminster Memorial Cemetery in Westminster, Orange Co., CA. Helaine Lorraine Paris Timm Plewe, b. Aug. 20, 1924 in Beaumont, Riverside Co., CA. I believe she was born in her great grandmother's home (Maretta Jane Reeves Griffin). Mom died on Nov. 25, 1995 in Delavan, Walworth Co., WI and her ashes are buried by her maple tree in the Delavan Arboretum. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
