Greg; I think your idea for a repository for Reeves family files is a great idea. I too respect and appreciate the individual desire for privacy, but I personally try to balance that almost instinctive desire against my need to find out more about my ancestors. If I am too private, I will be cutting myself off from a potentially valuable source of info. The idea you propose is in effect many places off line already, such as FTM's CD-ROM disks, published family histories, etc. Also, each of us when we send a query to a newsgroup divulges a small amount of personal into. I would personally like to participate in your shared repository, should you decide to go forward with it, and will contribute my own family history file, as modest as it is at present. One suggestion: why not limit access to the file to those who have contributed files? This has been done elsewhere, and is a fair way to proceed - those who wish to use the bridge to our shared past will have the privilege of helping to build it. This will also stimulate a more rapid pace of contributions. Thanks for your generous offer - I hope others will agree with the idea. rreeves204@aol.com ------------------------------
