In search of connections with Van Vanmeter Reeves, b. 1816 in Ohio. Van Vanmeter married Mary, b.1816 also from Ohio, and had 9 known children. James b. 1840 -IN, Susan b.1841-IN, Richard b. 1843 -IN, Thomas b. 1844 -IN, George b. 1847 -IN, Elias b. 1849 -IN, Sarah b. 1853 -IN, William b. 1857 -IN & Isaac b. 1859 -IN (my mothers GFather). There may have been another son or brother Van b. 1850. The family was born & lived in Indiana. Most moved to Iowa then Kansas in the 1870's where Van & Mary later died. Van Vanmeter Reeves b. 1816 was most likely the son of Van Vanmeter Reeves b. 1796 & Rachel Allerton; This is a link that needs to be proven. Van the younger was from the same area of Ohio that Van the elder married Rachel. The two Van's leap frogged each other to the same areas of Iowa and Illinois in the 1870's, along with the unknown Van b. 1850.
