James’ marriage to Mary Bethany Callaway on January 18, 1844 is recorded in the Ordinary Court in Wilkes County, Georgia. Mary was the eighth child of Rev. Enoch Callaway (b. September 14, 1792, d. September 12, 1859) and Martha “Patsy” Reeves, a second cousin to James’ grandmother Martha Reeves of Wake County, (b. April 08, 1796, d. March 10, 1879) of Rayle, Wilkes County. She was born February 23, 1825 in Wilkes County and died May 04, 1908 in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William H. (nee Alice Angela Geer) Weatherly, at 83 years of age. James had died three years earlier on March 01, 1905 at the home of his son Enoch Callaway Geer in the village of Penfield, Greene County located four miles southwest of the Geer homestead and seven and a half miles northeast of the County seat of Greensboro. James was just over eighty years of age and had shared 61 years of marriage with his beloved wife. Hello - Still looking for anyone connected to my George and Caroline Reeves. George was born about 1828 in Kentucky. Caroline is a Downey (I believe) born 1830 in Indiana. They were married in 1850 in Indiana and lived in Posey County and Gibson County, Indiana. I think George died about 1875 as Caroline is listed as a widow in the 1880 census. She died in 1893 in Gibson County, Indiana Children are John W (b abt 1852), James W (b about 1854), Permelia (b 1857, d 1859) George (b 1859, d 1861), Ada (b 1867, d 1881), Namie, as listed on one census, (b 1870) and Joseph (b 1872, d 1938 in Arizona). All children were born in Indiana. This is my beginning and my end of this family. Hi Sally, My Great Grandmother was a Reeves on my mother's side. Since than my Grandmother was an Irwin and my mother was a Gilson. I have no direct male cousin's that are needed for the DNA test. I took the DNA test for my Chandler line which is a direct blood line from my father.
