We are Happy for you and hope others that may have this problem will think about this and maybe cure their problem before it gets so bad. I go through all my boxes fairly often mailed sent, mail received, mailed saved, also the recently deleted box. All of them gt overloaded. If you want to checked messages to the list and you have deleted them go to the Reeves Archives and they will be saved their. Course that help with private emails. But that the way it goes. Now I will try again to get an answer with someone else. One of you who has had so much problem please send to me and follow the directions below. I remember Carole I think was having the most trouble. But whoever send both to me first I will send in again to check to see if I get the same answer. OK? Beulah <<<<If the "duplicates" are replies to her posts, the respondent may be hitting "reply all" in their email client, which is sending a copy of the message to the list, and a private copy to the poster. I think the best solution is to call you computer tech support or your ISP, or take it in to a computer Guru. There are several national stores that offer expert service. I only get a few double posts and not just from Rootsweb. I think their mail boxes are sending it out more than once. This has been mentioned. I have noticed something in out box that I thought i had sent but it was still there. So I have sent it again thinking the first didn't go but it did. You can always look in your sent box to see is you have sent the mail more than once. But the first suggestions are the best bet for finding the problem. Carole, Right after I bought a new computer recently, my computer went through a spell of sending out two copies of every message I wrote. I cursed the new computer in terms unfit to print. In desperation, I called my ISP's tech support, which has always been quite helpful and understandable (they were still based in the U.S. at that point), and they had me check the settings in "Windows E-Mail". In setting up the new computer, I had inadvertently entered my ISP's server address TWICE, which caused the problem. If you have set up a new computer or have changed any settings recently, this could be your problem also. Sorry I can't tell you the details of how to check for this, as the tech rep had to walk me through it to get it done, and I have no idea how we did it. It can't be just one or two person's computers that has a problem. I am not receiving any duplications except from this website. Wouldn't we be receiving duplications of each email if there was a problem with our computers? This is the answer I received. The headers of BOTH of these emails are identical with the same message ID which means that RootsWeb only sent it out once. Since you use AOL I can't really explain why or how you received this message twice in that AOL doesn't offer true filtering which is usually the cause of this type of duplicate message. Lea, I have about a 10 page report on Malachi and his descendants but fear it would be too long to include on this list but would be happy to attach to an e-mail directly to you if that is okay. Also spent my evenings in the library in Charlotte where I got a lot of notes of Reeves's legal activities - much of this is still in notes but some has been added to my data. Hi list, Occasionally I receive double or multiple e-mails from the list and other sources. Hope you can get it straightened out, but if not I'll keep deleting them. There has been a lot of good discussions lately and I am glad to see the number of DNA Test growing. If your last name is Reeves or a variation please take the test even if you think you know what line you are from. Better to confirm than assume. To the ladies on the list please keep looking for a distant cousin, the same for men who have a Reeves in their ancestry. Hope to respond to the roll call soon. Sincerely, James C. Reeves

I am forwarding the message I received. Please forward to me any double emails expanded as the messages reads. If we don't have it all than it can't be looked fixed. Beulah Ask the people who claim to be receiving more than one copy of a list message to send you a copy of BOTH copies of a supposedly duplicate post they have received and tell them to include FULL EXPANDED headers. If they don't know how to expand the headers, refer them to the instructions here: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/headersfull.html Once you get the headers and duplicates for one of the posts, post them here so we can examine them to help figure out the problem. I am sending along this very good advice on how to research in Guilford Co., NC. In and around that area there were a lot of Reeves. Thought it might be helpfulfor anyone that has family in that area. Beulah North Carolina did not start using birth certificates until 1913, so anything prior to that time will be in church or Bible records. Tombstones on occasion.... And remember that there are/were a lot of Quakers in Guilford County, and their records are wonderful resources. Death certificates also were not started in NC until 1913, so the same applies. You will have to rely on church and Bible records and tombstones between 1771 and 1913. Some marriage records, deeds, etc., are online. If you will go to the website below, you will find a link to the county Register of Deeds office. Negotiating that website can be a little tricky, but you will find the available online records there. 2nd email I forgot to mention wills, estate records, deeds on occasion, court records, newspaper records, etc. There is more than one way to get at the answers you need. Some of the material from old Guilford newspapers are in the NCGenWeb digital archives. Go to the website below and start digging around. But remember that the search engine for my website does not give you results in the digital archives. That requires a separate search engine for the digital archives alone.
