I checked out the pictures, it is a beautiful area, full of winding roads. My dad and I were there this summer. I didn't get to see inside the church so that was nice to see. My uncle and cousin gave us a tour of the area, although my dad grew up there. He is a Glance, his grandmother was a Reeves. -----Original Message----- From: reeves-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:reeves-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of troxtoby@insightbb.com Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 6:58 AM To: reeves@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [REEVES] Reeves-Sandy Mush North Carolina Hi Linda, So nice to hear from you. Hello, In my tree I have a GG Grandfather actually more like 6 or 7 gens back, that was possibly born in NC. I am a little behind on some of this internet stuff and have learned about face book only because it is a "no-no" for my grandchildren. Some of the recent communications seem to indicate our "REEVES" group may have some sort of arrangement with this service. I would appreciate someone educating me on this function and what it would take for me (grandpa Joe) to participate. Joe Thurstenson

Billy, Thank you very much for sharing this information with the list. The one thing you said that really caught my attention was about the "exact" route taken by those who migrated to Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas from the Carolinas. I for one and I believe many others would be very interested in hearing more about this. I have been trying to determine my ancestors route from Lincoln County, NC to west Tennessee for years with little success. I was fortunate to run across a copy of part of a letter that was written by one of my ancestors back to relatives that remained in North Carolina. However, the part I have only mentions the date of arrival in west Tennessee and brief details of the journey itself. Could you share that route with us? I am researching the line of John Reeves, who lived in Columbia Co., Ga. during the late 1700's to early 1800's. He was married to Sarah Glover (d: 26 May 1812). He may have married Allethia Drane (4 Jan 1813), but that could have been his son who was also named John. John Sr. had three sons that I know of; Spencer, John and Thomas. John Sr., Spencer and John Jr. all lived in Columbia Co., Ga. I believe Spencer died in Columbia Co., Ga. One of his sons was Stephen Green Reeves who is my 3rd great grandfather. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated. Below is some of what I have. I. John Reeves mar. Sarah Glover i John ii Thomas iii Spencer i. Charles b: Abt. 1811 ii. Thomas iii. For those interested in death certificates available through the Georgia Archives, both on and off line, here is the answer I got from the archives when I inquired: "The Georgia Archives has death certificates through 1931. 1928 through 1931 are not online and are available only at the Archives. The State of Georgia passed legislation to provide for the registration of births and deaths by the State Board of Health in 1914 (v. 1, p. 157, Law 466), but uniform statewide registration did not begin until 1919."
