    3. This is the census information that I have regarding the John Reeves I am asking about: 1830 Washington Co, AR - Unknown Township - page 9 img 17 1840 Washington Co, AR - Unknown Township - img 16 1850 Marion Co, AR - image 40 1860 Marion Co, AR - Prarie Township - image 11 John Reeves - born between 1790-1792 - South Carolina Delilah - Unknown born about 1800 - North Carolina known - names of children - there were others but do not know the names (1) Green Reeves - md (1) Delilah (2) Sintha Sooter (2) Pleasant Andrew Reeves - md Mary Jane Hardester (3) Malinda Reeves (4) Clarinda Reeves md James Henderson Doyle (5) Colonel Thomas Reeves md Mary E Anderson according to the census prior to 1850 there were 2 other boys & one girl that names are unknown It is possible that the John Reaves & Minerva J in the 1860 census is yours but the dates do not match your Minerva J. According to the 1860 census she was born about 1840 in TN & there was a child - William M Reeves that was born about 1859 in AR - I do not see that child in your list. Think the John Reeves you have listed below is the son of Peter Reeves & Sarah Redden - His Minerva was born about 1827 in Alabama. This John Reeves was born about 1822-1824 in TN. Thoughts appreciated. 3. In response to the query about John Reeves, the one that lived in Izard CO., AR. He was a great-grandfather of my husband. Census records show he was born 1819, in TN. He first showed up in Gibson Co., TN. We think his father was William Reeves, but have not been able to prove this. However, our DNA did show that we are from the Burgess Reeves line. John married Charlotte Ballance the first time. John's mother was Sarah Jackson ( from the Pendleton District, S.C. Jackson Family). John and family moved to DeSoto CO., Miss., along with his widowed Mother and some of the Jackson brothers. John and several of the Reeves family then moved to Izard CO. John married Jane McBride Clayton the second time. He and several of his descendants are buried in a local Reeves Cemetery. 3. I was totally disappointed in the loss of the formatting on the Outline I copied into my previous e-mail. I don't have the smarts to correct this. However, if you would like a more readable copy, I would be happy the e-mail you with an attachment - these seem to stay in format. Joe Thurstenson joe@thurstenson.com

    3. I am responding to this query because my wife's GG Grandfather was John Reeves (b. on unknown date in Wayne County, Tennessee - he was a babe when the wagon train traveled from Wayne County to Searcy County, Arkansas). This John married Minerva Jane ? about 1847 in Searcy County, Arkansas. I am thinking there is some confusion here with all the John Reeves (I must have thirty or more in my data base). 2. I have several cards from the archives for the Civil War for J. F. Reeves.. It gives Walton Co as the place he enlisted. This J. F. Reeves could be my half uncle but I haven't been able to prove it. There is a J.F. Reeves buried in Oakland Cemetery in the other half plot of the Reeves Plot where James M. Reeves, (I know was a son of my grandfather's first family)) is buried as I was there with my parents.. There are several Reeves buried there and I believe they were the first family of my grandfather. I did find out that actually the wives brought the cemetery lots. I have the obituary of J. F. Reeves and he was a minister and farmer through the years. He had a large family according to the census but they all died before he did as well as his wife. I am wondering if this J. F. Reeves was the same as the one in the Civil War. I don't have a first name, it wasn't given in his obituary. I am told he was mentioned in the book, "Pioneers of Atlanta". It gives his age as 22 which would be very close (that is within 6 months or year) to the age of family I have from the 1850 census report. If anyone has information on this Reeves or family I would like to hear from you. Eastern Standard Time, joannw42@insightbb.com writes: I have traced my GGgrandfather Hamilton RIVES back from KY to the 1850 DeKalbCo TN census where he is listed as Hamilton REAVES age 25. I believe that he is the son of Hamilton REEVES in the 1840 DeKalb Co TN census and the 1830 White Co TN census as well as the Hambleton Reeves (over age 45) in the White Co TN Census. I have no proof of relationship. I also wonder if this is the same Hambleton RIVES b about 1768 in Bute Co NC and mentioned only 1 time in the Reliques of Ryves on page 416. Hamilton's Mother is listed in the 1850 census as Ann REAVES, being born in NC and a member of his household. She evidently came to KY with him and his family and is last listed in the 1860 Butler Co KY census as age 86. Any info on any of these would be appreciated as well as any siblings of Hamilton. 3. Would any one know the ancestors of James REEVES (b say 1700) who married say 1745 in Virginia Sarah BEAN (b 1705 d 1820). My sources for my dates must be WAY OFF. Their supposed daughter, Sarah Reeves (1747-1839) married ca 1772 to Samuel WOOD, possibly in Loudon Co., VA. Any help would be greatly appreciated. William

    1. [REEVES] Questions about FaceBook
    2. Barry Reeves
    3. All, If anyone still has questions about FaceBook and my offer, please contact me directly at my email below. I would prefer to minimize any questions or discussions concerning FaceBook on this list. On a different subject, we had two people that have taken advantage of the Gift Certificates from Family Tree DNA for the 37 marker DNA tests. The new participants are: Douglas Reeves (107298) and David C Reeves (108041). There are still two $15 gift certificates available for the 25 marker tests if anyone is interested or know of someone in your line that would be willing to take the test. This offer from FTDNA is only good until 12/31/2007 so you need to move on it pretty quickly. Thanks, Barry Reeves Email: barry_reeves@bellsouth.net

    3. Hi Barry, I've read the emails regarding Facebook, but could you tell me (us) again how to subscribe? I am very interested in finding out more about my Reeves family line--I'm also interested in receiving a copy of "Reliques of the Rives". Thanks! Diane ----- Original Message ---- From: laverne raisch <boblarai2@yahoo.com> To: reeves@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 9:59:53 AM Subject: Re: [REEVES] About FaceBook Barry - thanks for the answer. I am interested in the face book you speak of and also of the Reeves book. I guess I didn't get your note ealier because I don't think I am on the Reeves Registry website. Can you give me addresses where I can do so.? Appreciate any help. Laverne ----- Original Message ---- From: Barry Reeves <barry_reeves@bellsouth.net> To: reeves@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 12:05:38 AM Subject: [REEVES] About FaceBook All, I'm sorry if some of you are confused about all the references to FaceBook on the list. Hopefully, I can explain what's going on. A few days ago I sent an email to all the members of the Reeves Registry website. The purpose of the email was to get everyone more involved in our site and encourage them to become more active by posting a query on the forums as well as this Reeves list. I also asked each member to register on FaceBook and join a new group that I created there also called the Reeves Registry. In return for doing these things, I would give them a PDF copy of the book "Reliques of the Rives" published in 1929 and written by James Rives Childs. Many members have already done these things and received their copy of the book. If you are not familiar with FaceBook, it is one of the many "Social Networking" sites that have been created on the Internet in the last couple of years. It is similar in nature to MySpace, ClassMates, YouTube and other sites. The primary purpose for these sites is to create an environment where people from all over the world can network with other people with similar interests. Those interests can be Sports, Movies, Books, Famous People, Woodworking, Genealogy or thousands of other things. Once you register, you can join any group you want to and invite anyone else to be your "friend". Your "friends" can be family, friends, co-workers or people with a similar interest. It can be a great way to make friends and find other people that share a common interest. This is a good thing. I understand that some of you may have reservations about joining a site like FaceBook and I can understand that. There have been numerous stories in the news about people falling victim to identify theft and other crimes. You should always use caution when providing information about yourself on any website. Never give personal information about yourself or your family to anyone unless you know and trust them. The thing to keep in mind about the Internet is that it is an electronic version of the world. There are many good things on the Internet, but there are also the bad things as well. Just like in the "real" world. The best advise I could give is that if a particular website doesn't feel right to you, then stay away from it. As someone who has worked in the computer field for nearly 35 years and been on the Internet since it's early days, I feel very comfortable using FaceBook. I created the Reeves Registry group on FaceBook because of the features it has to offer. Each group has a photo album that is very easy to use. The group also has a built in message forum and a place for posting links to other websites. We already have over sixty photos that have been uploaded by the members. I think this will be just another tool that we can use to help with our family research. I believe it will complement both the Reeves Registry website and the Reeves mailing list. Everyone on the list is welcome to join if you want to. It's your choice. If you're interested in a copy of "Reliques of the Rives", the offer is still available. If you need help getting on FaceBook or have other questions about it, you can contact me at my email below. 1. [REEVES] Thomas Reeves
    2. Still searching for information on my great grandfather's parents & siblings. Thomas J. Reeves was born 1825 in Georgia. He died 1875 in either Talbot or Taylor County. He served in the Civil War. Private, CO. B. 53rd Regt, Georgia Inf. Wounded at Wilderness May 6, 1864 and was furloughed. He is buried in the Buckner Cemetery near Junction City. He married Mary Buckner, daughter of Wiley and Judith Buckner. Thomas may have been married prior to his marriage to Mary Buckner. I have a marriage license on Thomas Reeves and Mary Harrell dated 2/17/1848, Talbot Co., GA. . I believe, John S. Reeves (b. ca 1852) was born to this union. I have not found the marriage license on Mary Buckner and Thomas Reeves but they had four children: Elizabeth Reeves (Melvin) 1855 - 1949 (buried Juliette Cemetery, Juliette, GA.) Wiley Benjamin Reeves 1858 - 1817 (buried Salem Cemetery, Weldon, Texas) Martha Dranny Reeves (Byers) 1860-1897 (buried Buckner Cemetery, Junction City, GA.) Edward Lafayette Thomas Reeves 1863-1923 (buried Antioch Cemetery, Lovelady, TX.) Edward Reeves is my grandfather. Would like to correspond with anyone having information on the above Thomas Reeves. **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
