I know this list has some Reeves families in England and other countries. There was a list for Reeves researching England but I can't locate it now. We would love for you to stay with us as so many on this list have their roots in England. In fact I have tried to persuade some of our English Reeves and Reeves anywhere in the world if they could to please join our DNA project. It will help all of us. You could locate members of the family that migrated to US and we could maybe connect with some families there. I think we are missing a lot not having more communication between all Reeves of all countries. Beulah Reeves McCain Reeves List Manager
The earliest info we have re: Wm. Reeves is that he acquired 400 acres of land in Wolf Creek Twp. in Mercer Co., PA in 1792. We were not able to find his family in PA on the 1790 census. However, we were able to locate them in said county on the 1800 census. His plantation was surrounded by the plantations of Wm. Buchanan, George Devour, Patrick Gibbon, and Robert Reed. We have a copy of his will date 08 Feb 1806. His executrix was his wife, Hannah, and his executor was Patrick Gibson. We also have a copy of the deed to his property , dated 30 Aug 1813. His children as stated in his will are: 1. Oliver, who later married Catherine, widow of George Devore. 2. Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Wiley 3. William 4. Agnes, wife of John McGee 5. Thomas 6. Mary 7. John, who later married Mary Elizabeth Sprigg and moved to Belmont Co., OH 8. Rachell Any info on the location of this family in 1790 would be greatly appreciated! Dorlene DiPao;o

Hi, I am trying to find who Sarah Reaves from Jasper County Georgia was. She is listed as an 1827 land lottery winner from Captain Hines District # 119 in Jasper County for property in Muscogee County Georgia. The listing also say she was the widow of a Revolutionary Soldier. I have another Sarah Reeves that I have been trying to find. She was born in Rutherford County NC in abt 1800 in 1830 she was living in Hall County Ga, married to an Isaac Attaway with 2 daughters Elizabeth Caroline and Mary Jane. They remained in Hall County until 1850 when they went to Baldwin County. During the war years they had a son Chesley who was in the Confederacy. The girls both left Baldwin County and went to Muscogee County abt 1860 .Isaac died between 1870 and 1880 in Baldwin Co. By 1880 the mother Sarah was living with her two daughters and son in Columbus Muscogee GA. They all died between 1880 and 1900. and their line died with them. I have tried to find a marriage for Sarah and Isaac but none to be found. Isaac was from the Laurens District in SC. Many of his family were in Burke Co. Ga around the time of what would have been their marriage date 1821. I have since found the court house in Burke burned in 1825 so if this is where they married I am out of luck. If you have Reeves Reaves family in the Jasper, Baldwin, Burke, Muscogee Hall areas I would be interested in hearing from you. Thank you for you kind attention, Sharon

When exactly was B.F. Reeves born? Who were his parents? Where did he live? Did he live in Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa and where are the records? When did he die and where? Where are the birth records for his 2 daughters, Lucinda and Lomida (Lorinda)? Could they possible have been twins? Any suggestions on where else I might look to find more about B.F. and his ancestors would be greatly appreciated. (There are several B.F. Reeves, listed in Ohio, but either too young or too old?). I've been searching for 15+ years, would sure like to answer these questions. :-) B.F. Reeves married Nancy A. Mann in Knox County, Ohio. The next record I found for them, was the birth certificate of their sons John and Moses in Winabago, Illinois. The 1880 census listed them visiting their daughter Lucinda, in Dunn County, Wisconsin. Their son, William Reeves was living near their daughter. In the census record, it indicates that B.F. Reeves was born in Ohio, and that Nancy was born in Canada. Both children indicate the same information regarding their parents. Lucinda (who also goes by the name of Ellen) indicates that she was born in Iowa, but still I have not been able to find a birth record. 1 Benjamin F. Reeves abt 1817 - .. +Nancy A. My reeves come out of VA to NC to Wayne Co. TN to Searcy/Vanburen Counties in Arkansas. Father Peter, son of Isaac Reeves and Margarey of Granville and later Wilkes Co, NC, married there, then moved west around 1810.. then moved with his kids about 1830. I suspect they were following the Indian relocations as land opened, although there is the traditional rumor he married into the Cherokee/Chickasaw (doesnt every family have at least one?).. The family was quite prolific in the new lands, marrying into the Baker and Grinder families who came west with them. Several of the clan were arrested as part of the "Peace Societies" (a.k.a. "the chain gang" or "yellow rag boys") who attempted to tell both sides to go away in "the late unpleasantness" of the 1860s) A fuller line is available at http://gen.texsteve.com His family was (pardon the crowding) Descendants of Peter Reeves 1 Peter Reeves 1780 - 1845 b: 1780 in Wilkes Co., NC d: Abt. 1845 in Searcy Co., AR. . +Sarah Redden aka: Sally 1785 - 1860 b: 1785 in VA d: Abt. 1860 in Searcy County, AR ... 2 Hiram Reeves 1802 - 1850 b: Abt. 1802 in Wilkes, NC d: Abt. 1850 in Perry Co., TN ....... +Morning Newton aka: Maurner Newton 1805 - 1860 b: 1805 in North Carolina d: Aft. 1860 in Searcy County, Arkansas ... 2 Redden Fain Reeves aka: Redding Reeves 1807 - 1878 b: 08 Feb 1807 in Wilkes Co. It has been quite awhile since we had a roll call but we need to hear from all the new subscribers as well as the old ones. Remember to type in the name of your ancestor in the subject line with a date and the area he or she lived. Please give some information that others can tie into. We need to work together to make connections. Lets hear from everybody. My Line I have a some proof that Joel Avery was the son of Jeremiah Reeves who died in Wilkes Co., GA. If there are other descendants of Jeremiah's line I would like to correspond with them and compare notes. Dear Listers, Thompson Reeves b. 1799 was my great grandfather. He married Lucinda Rilla "Cinderella" b. 1800 who is believed to be a Robinson. Their parents are not proven to my satisfaction. His older Reeves relatives were in Pendleton Dist. S.C. at the time of his birth. Property transfers show them buying and selling land as they slowly migrated down the tributaries of the Savannah River into Georgia in the early 1800's Thompson and Cinderella were in Gwinnett Co. Ga. in 1820 with two female children. I descend from two of their children. I have information on all of their children to some degree. James Marion Reeves was born to them in 1823. He married Mary Ann Childers in 1847 in Gwinnett County GA. Their son Elijah Wallace Reeves married a first cousin named Mary Anna Scott. Mary Anna's mother, Polly, was a daughter of Thompson and Cinderella also. Elijah Wallace and Mary Anna are my father's parents. What would really help me would be to find descendants of Thompson's brother Lofton Reeves b. 1792. What I need most of all would be information on the son of Lofton who was named James M. Reeves b. ca 1824. His records confuse me with those of my great grandfather, James Marion Reeves b. 1823. Thanks for the roll call. It always helps. Tommie Reeves Smith
Hello List, Several Reeves lists have this Austin Smith Reeves married to Abigail Wright with dates and children. It appears that child number 7 was George (no middle name that I have found), born 9 March 1794 in Mason County KY. George was my 2g-grandfather. He married Elizabeth Brown (Mt. Holly, NJ 18 Aug 1794, d. 18 Apr 1884, Valparaiso, IN) from a family active in the New Jersey militias during the Revolution. They had 8 children: Emaline (1824-1825), Austin Smith (yeah, another one: 1826-1886), George Haywood (1827-1877), Mary Elizabeth (1829-1834), Sarah Caroline (1831-?), John Brown (1833-1870), Mary Ellen (1835-1889), Arabella Therza (1838-prob 1913). I have improving links and documentation for the children, although have not as yet found any living descendents except for those coming through my great grandfather, Austin Smith Reeves. He married Catherine Celelia Childs and they had 10 children of their own plus adopting two of Catherine's nieces. Just for completeness, those children are John (1849-1911), Annie Childs (1851-1930), George Nathaniel (1853-1930, father of Melville A, who led a lurid career in Chicago as the 'Skyscraper Burglar' until he jumped bail in 1933), Mary Adelaide (1855-1927), Elizabeth Brown (1857-1937), Jeanette Fisk (1858-1859), Theodore Edward (1861-1868), Austin Albert (1862-1906), Katherine Childs (1864-1935), Samuel Fosdick (1866-1915). My current interests are: 1. Documentation for Samuel Fosdick Reeves' likely participation in the Alaska Gold Rush. 2. Additional living descendents of any of the above. 3. Documentation for the links backwards from George, that is, to HIS father (likely Austin Smith Reeves, 12 Nov 1757 - 1820 Mason County KY) and mother (Abigail Mason, 1 Aug 1755, VA - Aug 1817), married 1782. And to George's grandfather (likely Benjamin 1720/21 Northumberland VA) and grandmother (Sarah Wright, perhaps 1730 VA). This Reeves branch appears not to be connected to the many Reeves in the deep south; even the DNA test reveals many dissimilarities. But I appreciate the occasional nugget that comes my way and hope that all of you find your way through the brick wall to Diagon Alley (a Harry Potter reference for those whose children might have neglected an introduction to the hero). Bob Reeves, Los Angeles,
I am a descendant of William the immagrant but can not take part in DNA project , Due to the fact that my connection is over a hundred years back, Martha Patsy Reeves daughter of John Reeves married into my Dodson family, Orange County N.C. Sue Dodson
Just wanted to announce that I have order the DNA kit for my cousin who has agreed to do the test for me. Of course it will take a while to do the test and get the results. I encourage others from different lines to join in. I hope someone from the Jeremiah, James and William line of NC will also take the test to help prove this is the line I have searched. William came from VA and is or is related to the William that was the immigrant. There were so many children and there should be quite a few male descendants that could take the test. Looking forward to more signing up for the DNA program. Beulah
Thanks, Fay, for the reply. I did find Boomland.com and have sent a message -- hopefully, I will get an answer and perhaps find info on siblings of my line. laverne On Wed, 19 Jan 2005 19:00:14 EST [email protected] writes: > I do not know but try Boomland.com see if they have a web site I > know they > are not my husband line Good Luck > > Fay > > > ==== REEVES Mailing List ==== > To UNSUBSCRIBE: email <[email protected]> and write only > the > word UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the message - nothing is needed in > the > subject line.
