Dianne, You were right on target with the spelling. Her full name was Maretta J. Reeves. A site which names her and Rufus Griffin, and gives the names of their children in the 1860 and later censuses, is at http://jhg60.tripod.com/Rufus.html. If you Google "Maretta J. Reeves" (include the quotes), you will come up with two more sites with info about her. Although I didn't try it, you might also go to www.rootsweb.com, click on "World Connect Project," and enter her name. You will probably find some family trees that have been submitted with her name in it. So far as I know, Maretta is not in my lineage, but I could be mistaken.
