James, I saw your posting to the list about central GA Reeves. My line is out of an Eli REEVES who came into GA early in the 1800's out of NC and ended up in what is now Fulton County, but was once old Campbell County. He is first enumerated there in 1850. One of his sons went to TX and one settled in Carroll County. I descend from a daughter. Would you be interested in any of this information? Reeves Immigrants Many seem to be have the impression that there are few Reeves Immigrants to the United States and New World (the Islands) before the late 1800’s but a book that I have a copy of called “The New World Book of Reeves” published in 1998 has nearly 9 pages of names and sources (publications) of early Reeves immigrants. Granted many are females and could not pass the name along and many are late arrivals to the islands and west coast and could not have generated the descendents that many of us are following from the East Coast and Westward. However, I will give a few names, dates and sources that many of us might be interested in tying back to. Many of these immigrants may not have had offspring and many may have had a common ancestry in Europe so the validity and need for DNA testing is still there. Hi James, I saw your posting and just thought I'd run this by you. My great great grandmother was Marietta Jane Reeves. My grandmother said she was from Covington, Georgia, but when I looked at the map of Georgia, I saw that there is a Marietta, GA which looks like it might be in Cobb Co. You mentioned that you were following the Cobb Co. line of Reeves. Does Marietta sound familiar to you? I haven't been able to trace back any farther than her and would love to find out who her parents were. Thanks! Thanks to Tommie Smith for her response. I too have been following this line for some time, the DNA results do not look favorable. Why is our test results so much different that all the other Reeves who have tested? Have been desperately looking for other males of our line to be tested. They have about died out. We definitely need more test from anyone that can trace there roots to central Ga. I also have been following the Cobb Co. Ga. line in the census records since you made the post about it. My thanks to everyone, James
I HAVE THOMAS REEVES AND MARY PURRIER IN MY FAMILY TREE [email protected]
All, The family line for Thomas Dale Reeves #33172 has been posted to the DNA website. Thomas traces his descent from Henry Reeves, Sr of Old Rappahannock, Virginia. Please note that another participant Roy Everett Reeves # 20739 also traces his descent from Henry Reeves, Sr., although FamilyTreeDNA did not identify them as a match. Ten of their first 12 markers match. Of the two markers that don't match, one of the markers DYS439 is expected to mutate. However they are different on marker DYS389-2 which does not normally mutate. I know there are several more on the list that trace their descent from Henry Reeves, Sr. including David Leroux. I would suggest that Thomas and Roy assume they will be in the same group at this point and compare their research notes with each other. I would also like to encourage comments and suggestions from the others working on the Henry Reeves, Sr line. Here is the link: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~reevesdna/ Thanks again for everyone's participation. Barry Reeves
I would like to address James Countryman,Jr. I have looked at the men named James Coleman in your line several times. I really don't think I have any kind of a link but I wish to mention to you what I have. My Great Great Grandfather,Thompson, had a son named Andrew Jackson Reeves b. ca 1834. Andrew Jackson Reeves was the father of James Tilleroe Reeves b. Nov. 14, 1856 . James Tilleroe married Mary Watt and one of their sons was named James Coleman Reeves . James Coleman Reeves was born June 10, 1911in Columbia AR. perhaps in Magnolia. This is all I have and the only significance is probably that the name is the same. I just wanted to pass it on. Best regards, Tommie
Where an timing of your Thomas Reeves. Mine was born in Burlington Co, NJ in 1761 and died in Salem Co, NJ in 1832. We welcome Richard, who is our newest match. Seems we all come from a different line and it will be interesting to discover where we will meet. But I think without any proof it will probably be William of Granville, NC or is he isn't the one that came to NC from VA it could William the immigrant. I will be frank I haven't proven if William of Granville was the one that came from VA. We are so happy that we are having participants in our project that are having their results match other in the project. I do believe in time this will be a very helpful tool to find our cousins and ancestors for all of us. I encourage everyone to look at our web page and see if you can fit in some way. Keep looking as we will have more and more results being posted. I do hope this will encourage others to join our project. I do know some can't because there is the father to son line. But it is worth the effort to try to find someone that can take the test for you. If you don't know that someone, post to the list that you are looking for someone to take the test and you are willing to help with the cost of it. Post enough information so they may pick up on it. I know summer time is here but during those hot days do a little research and stay out of the sun and post your findings. Looking forward to more matches in our project. Sally, I did not mean to mislead you. I do not descend from Walter. I just had that little bit of information and I did believe him to be one of the immigrants. Over the years I have communicated with his researchers some as I was ruling him out for myself. It is good to know where the Henry belongs. Good luck. Tommie

Tommie and other Walter Reeve cousins. Do you live near Burlington Co, NJ? They have the book "The Reeves Family-Walter Reeve". This has the line down from Walter Sr. Also the Book, The Reves Family. It states that your line is Walter Sr, John, Henry born 1702 in Burlington Co, NJ. He was a carpenter by trade. He lived in Northampton Twp. He married Abigail Shinn daughter of James Shinn and Abigail Lippincott. This book has Henry signature. Let me know if you have access to this book. I just got back from being gone for 4 days and need to get caught up. More later.
