    1. George Reeves & Jane Burton: Jesse A. Reeves
    2. I received this from another list and thought it might be helpful to some on this list. Whcih brings to mind another way to find information if to subscribe to list in the area of your ancestor. That are state list, County list, also a variety of lists that you should take a look at and decide which would suit you best. You can receive info from many different sources. The archives of each list holds many postings and also many documents etc. So post to all the lists to find your ancestors. I have found there are many knowledgeable researchers on almost all list that are willing to help. I will admit there are some that only want info and don't want to give out but the nice ones far out weigh the ones that won't share. Please respond to the lady who sent this in. Thank you. 1. George Reeves - Burke Co, GA - 1803
    2. I'm looking for any information on George Reeves. My g-g-g-grandfather, William McElvy, was executor of his estate in Burke Co, GA in 1803. I'm actually looking for my g-g-g-grandmother, Barbara (Barbary) Reeves, born ca 1777, died 1838 in Decatur co, GA. She married William McElvy in 1799. Since William was executor of George's estate, I thought maybe he was related to Barbary Reeves. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    2. Maybe I didn't make myself clear when I sent the first notice out. When you click on this url; _http://www.ysearch.org/_ (http://www.ysearch.org/) It will take you to the opening page. At the top there will be several tabs you can click on. Click on new user. This has nothing to do with the FTDNA project. This is a different site. You take the numbers from the different markers in the DNA for your line and put them in the same slots that correspond with what your DNA gives you. LIKE: DYS 393 the marker is for me 13 so you select 13, just be sure you click on your markers in the right slots. Then you can upload your information if you wish. I just type in my name and the earliest ancestor. You are given a code name and a password to this and it will be different from your FTDNA number and password. Hope this will help if I didn't make myself clear. This is about the same procedure for _http://www.ybase.org/sname.asp_ (http://www.ybase.org/sname.asp) is about the same. You can fill in as much of your line there as you wish to. This just takes a little time and it can be beneficial to all of us in time. Beulah

    2. I think the new link is working well and easy for a person to search one line that they feel they might be related to or they can look at all by scrolling down. I do hope the other participants will send in their line even if it is just one or two generations. I encourage all those that haven't joined our project to give serious thought to joining now. Talk to family members and see if there isn't someone in your line that would be willing to take the test. If there is anyone that has family in England, France, or Ireland or any other country that are Reeves ask them to join our project or have it done where they live. We need to make connections where our ancestors families lived. It is a goal we need to work toward. Thank you Barry for all the work you and David do. I know the members of the Reeves List are grateful. It takes time and effort to keep these things going. 2. Dena, What is your line? You had a gggrandfather in England by the name of Reeves. Now was Anna a daughter? Then she had a son that had a son and then you? Have you tried to make contact with someone in England? There is a list [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) that you could join that might be of some help.. I am trying to research my gggrandmother. Who I was told came from Germany, but I am trying to research the area she was living and trying to find a clue to her family. As I only have her name and it may have been changed when she came over. You really have to dig to get info like this and sometimes it just doesn't seen to be there. I do feel for you as it is a hard to try to knock down brick walls but sometimes it can be done. Takes time and a little luck to make it happen. Look for newspaper clippings, tax records, school records, church records, cemetery listings. There are many things to look for and it takes so much time. Beulah In a message dated 9/11/2005 11:10:11 AM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Dear Beaulah, sine my line went from Anna Reeves and then male to male to me, a female, do you think it would do any good though? Because isnt the test using mitochondrial DNA? And that has to go through an unbroken female line. I would love to trace my Reeves heritage however. Since all I really know is my GGGrandpa, Edward Reeves was born in England, in approx 1818. He married "Sarah Puncher" (perhaps really Punchard) Perhaps in Suffolk Co. Then they went to Kansas. The trail ends there.

    1. Re: [REEVES] Posting your DNA results on Y-Search
    2. Our Reeves testing is for the male DNA that is passed from father to son. I was in the same boat that you are in now and couldn't take the test for the Reeves line. However I found my first cousin, 92 years old who agreed to take the test for me. If he hadn't been willing I would have had to try to find another male cousin that could do it. They do test the female line for both men and female. But it goes down your mother's line. In other words the DNA is passed from your mother to you. she carries her mother's DNA and etc. back down the line. No surnames. I was a Reeves my mother was a Bridwell, her mother was a Bugg and so on. It would be interesting but this particular study is only for that Reeves male line that hasn't been broken. So look for a cousin, uncle, great uncles etc. that would be willing to do the DNA test for you. It would still be your line. Good luck to all the ladies out there that would like to join this project. My only advice is find that male relative and I am sure they will be cooperative. A scientist I am not however! I only know this much because I read a lot about the problems in identifying the remains of the Imperial Romanovs. Dena

    1. Posting your DNA results on Y-Search
    2. Everyone that has joined our project and has their results should go to the web site of FTDNA Y-Search. They provide a site where you can post your results on a page with any information you might want to include. This site is open to the public and it gives others a chance to see if they match your DNA. There are quite a few testing companies and therefore there maybe cousins that sent their DNA to another company. This will give both an opportunity to find a connection outside the Reeves list. You don't have to list your name if you don't care to but you will be given a code name so others can get in touch with you This is the web site: _http://www.ysearch.org/_ (http://www.ysearch.org/) It is very easy to post your markers on this just be careful you click on the right number in the block. If I can do it I am sure you can also. Now this other site is made available by DNA Heritage. I believe it is based in England. You can use the tool bar at the top to navigate and look it all over. There are two Reeves already listed there. _Ybase :: genealogy by numbers_ (http://www.ybase.org/sname.asp) _http://www.ybase.org/sname.asp_ (http://www.ybase.org/sname.asp) Please take this opportunity to post your DNA results at these sites so others from all countries can access these sites as well and hopefully there will be a match. 2. Do they have a historical society there in New york? I know that when I asked for a birth certificate in Boston for 1869 I got a hospital entry, Do you know what religion he was, most people in those days were Either protistant or Catholic, Especially if they came from England or Ireland, Quakers and puritans were mostly in the early history of the early Americas, so if you know what kind of religion he practiced you might find the church that was in that area because many go back to the same church that they attend regularly for matrimony, and the church usually keeps a log of Marriages, dedications, baptisms and funerals. 2. Cindys Web Page
    3. Hello, I am researching the Reeve line for information on my grandfather Louis C. Reeve, b. abt. 1872, LI, NY, married Anna Lewis abt. 1900. His father was John Edgar Reeve, b. 6-10-1851, LI, NY, d. 3-3-1925, married Lucy Jane Homan on 3-17-1872. John Edgars father was Tappen G. Reeve(s), b. 6-14-1812, LI, NY, d. 2-16-1882, married Phebe A. Flower abt. 1835. As far as I know Louis C. was married before my grandmother Anna Lewis, but I have not been able to locate the previous family and I have no names to go by except that my father Lewis C. Reeve b. 1-29-1904, LI, NY, said that he had half brothers. If you have any information on this line please let me know. Wood, Jr. I have a copy and would be happy to look up any information for you. Would you please look up Barbary (Barbara) Reeves, born ca 1777. I'm not certain of her birthplace, but in may have been in GA or at least on the Atlantic coast. Could also have in been in another country. She was my g-g-g-grandmother that married William McElvy in 1799. Thanks! Liz Gerlits Palm Bay, FL

    2. I would suggest that these women are the daughters of John Reeves. He was born in 1771 he would have been 28 years old when Tabitha was born in 1799. Tabitha could also be a second wife. You could look for land and probate records in Orange County. I am sure they have film you could order through the Famiily History Center. Sharon
