Sheri- I am midway along on compiling a five-generation genealogy, The Read Family of Salem, Massachusetts. It will be the fourth in a series of genealogies with all facts footnoted to appropriate sources and will probably not be completed for another two years. While most of my work is with primary sources, I do correspond with a number of descendants who are helping compile source information. Some of the information you have included I have not been able to verify to a primary source. I list it in hopes you may have further information. 1. Everyone agrees that Jonathan Read of Salem married Anne Hanson, but no original source has been identified. The name Hanson in the family is strong circumstantial evidence. 2. I only have a documented birth date for one of their children, John in 1732 - from a family Bible. 3. Hanson Read married Hannah Cruff sometime between 6 July 1753 when her father called her Hannah Cruff in his will and 8 March 1757 when she surrendered her rights of dowry as the wife of Hanson Read in a deed. Hanson died before 1778 when Hannah Read, widow was taxed on their farm. 4. I have not found any contemporary documentation that Eli's wife was Judith Mehitable Jepherson although most descendants show that as her name. 5. I have not found documentation for the birth dates of Eli and Judith's children. Lots of people show them. They must have come from a family Bible somewhere. Richard H. Benson
