Sharon ,this John Reed had another spelling not Reid... it was German and then changed in America. Can't remember exactly, something like Reidth. The other Reed /Reid in NC during this time frame were either Scot-Irish or English. I have two Reed lines in NC during the 1700s so have come across this German group on my searches. I believe there is a very large book on this German Reed family in the Archives here in Raleigh. Also I believe I saw a family file folder on them as well. P.Pittman
Would you have a Reed that married a Patsey from NC in the 1800 or around there.
