Dear Listers, I am trying to find the marriage details of my great grandfather Robert W REED b c 1846 Ratcliff and his wife Ellen Harriet HOUGHTON b c 1852 Plumpstead Kent, in the early 1870's, as I cannot find any information on 1837online.com nor FreeBDM on Ancestry.com. What I do know about the family is as follows:- I have birth certificates for four of their children - 1873 Robert Frederick (my grandfather) Mile End Old Town father Robert William REED and mother Ellen Harriet REED formerly HOUGHTON. 1879 Ellen Louise Ethel REED Kent Road Surrey ditto 1889 Jessie Harriet Emma REED West Ham Essex ditto and Harriet Ellen Amelia REED West Ham Essex ditto. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated as the marriage certificate will confirm Robert's father for me. From the census details below Ellen was single in 1871 and appears married to Robert as Ellen READ b c 1852 Greenwich Kent. With Robert Frederick arriving in 1873 I assume the marriage took place around 1871/1873. Ellena HAUGHTON b c 1851 Abbey Wood Kent. 1851 census Ann HOUGHTON b c 1821 Milston Kent with other HOUGHTONs but not Ellen. Charles HOUGHTON appears in both the 1841 and 1851 census.
