    3. Hello from Blue Eye, MO ( near Branson ) by way of Lubbock TX. My name is Merlene REED Lash. I am looking for info on REED, READ, LOVETT, DOXY, BRINTLE, PATTERSON. HICKS Josiah REED moved from North Carolina to Williamson Co., TN. in 1806. with a wife Mary and four children, Nancy, Clement, William and Mary. Robert was born in 1808. Josiah settled on 70 acres at the head of the Harpeth River. I descend from William, b. 1805, NC, married to Thankful Lovett, b 1810 m on 9-8-1830 in Williamson Co. TN Josiah died in either 1839 or 1840. William died in about 1848.Their children: Robert 1832 Mary 1833 James Madison 1834 Jane 1835 Rachael 1839 Benjamin 1844 John 1848. I descend from James Madison. and Lauretta DOXY 1833 m. 1854.(father Daniel DOXY m. to Susanna HICKS about 1821) The James Madison REED family moved to KY duing the Civil War, then to TN in about 1872. They located in Eagleville, Rutherford Co., TN by 1880. James died near Eagleville TN. Would like to know where. Their Children: Sarah 1855, Elizabeth 1856 John 1858 Susan 1861 William Robert 1862 Thankful 1864 Rachael 1866 Annie 1867 James 1870 Jane 1872 Martha 1875 I descend from James Franklin REED b 1870 KY m Beulah Dee BRINTLE b 1880 TN We have a facinating story of why my Grandfather James Franklin REED left TN. The story goes that he was sellin .22 rifles to the blacks because they needed them to hunt rabbits and squirells to exist in the troubled times after the War. The Klu Klux Klan told him to stop or else. Of course, he didn't stop. He dug a trench in front of his place, plowed with a saddle on his horse and watched. One day he saw them coming. He unhitched the plow, rode for his ditch, had a shoot out , won, loaded all the bodies in the wagon, took them to Eagleville, dumped them on the town square and headed for Texas. Now if there is any truth to this tale, surely there will be articles in the papers for that period. He was born in 1870. so should have been between 1880 and early 1890's as he went to Texas, then Indian territory and married in 1895 in Oak Dale, OK. . Could some kind soul help prove or lay to rest this wild tale? He was a gun man and he was a lawman in Indian Territory in OK. SOOOO? Would love to hear from all long lost cousins. Merlene
