I need information on the "friend" Clement Reed and John Reed (executor & witness) in the below will of Thomas Jones of Davidson Co. NC. This posting may be my first lead to my Clement Read/Reid/Reed (any spelling) and son John (Clement) Read./Reid/Reed. I am told that the records for this entry would be in Davidson Co. NC, since Davidson split from Rowan Co. NC in Dec. 1822 and the will was probated in 1825. Book 1 p 40 Thomas Jones 6 Nov 1819 prob Sep 1825 (Thomas Sr. m Margaret Foreman, their son Thomas Jr. m Levina Loftin.) I lend unto my dear wife Margaret Jones, during her natural life or widowhood, the plantation whereon I know live, with all the land thereunto belonging, farming tools & houses, furniture, hogs, horse, cows & sheep, excepting one featherbed & furniture which I will to my grandaughter Nancy Jones forever. After the death of my wife Margaret Jones, all mu lands & personal estate is to be sold & all money divided equally among my three children, namely Chattan Jones & Thomas deceased (m Lavina Loftin) and Isham Wallace to them & their heirs forever.
