    2. Katie. It is unusual for the children to have values of real estate listed. Perhaps a grandparent died and left them property in a will. If so, there would be probate records. When I check probate records I check for all probates for that surname. It might explain why you can't find parents. You need to check deeds as well. There are both grantor (seller) and grantee (buyer) indexes. Look both places. Sometimes relatives are witnesses. When you find the deeds check the legal descriptions. Sometimes relatives are adjoining landowners. One of the advantages of deeds in Virginia (and most of the east) is they usually have metes and bounds discriptions which refer to adjoining landowners. I assume Joshua David and Joshua Davis have wives with different names so you can tell them apart. Make sure Davis is not a spelling error. Have you found the name Joshua Davis in at least two different records? Good luck.
